Good light tobacco flavoring for mixing?

Looking for a nice light tobacco flavor to build upon. Would like to make some fruity/nutty tobaccos, a custom RY4 from the ground up, or a dessert type tobacco. Maybe even add a little backbone to a juice i have already made like a hazelnut/vanilla. Some of the commercial tobacco ejuices i have tasted either taste like wet cigar chunks (tooooo Strong), wheaty/grassy, perfumey or have some other strange twang. One tasted like i was vaping some sort of medical salve like campho-phenique.

Some commercial juices i like that claim to have a tobacco base: Halo tribecca, Vapor hut: van apple wood and RYD2

What say ye masters of DIY? Inawera, TFA, FA, Cap, specific flavors? Thanks so much!

Grace and Peace,
Jon and Amanda

I've never tried it, but I hear some people over in the recipes sub-forum make a pretty good Tribeca clone. Something like 8% TFA RY4 Double, 1% AP, and 1% TFA Double Dark Chocolate.

As for a light tobacco base, I'd go with Hangsen RY1 at 5%. Pretty good to me, and isn't strong enough to really intrude on other flavors you throw in the mix.

Hangsen Deluxe is a light/slightly sweet/very smooth tobacco flavor. I love it straight. Has a slightly sweet flavor like the smell of a freshly opened pack.

HS flue cured is another one. Personally, I like to mix Highway with other flavors like vanilla or coffee. Highway is stronger and nuttier. Stands out better than the other 2 I mentioned. It depends on what you're looking for. We're all different. I like tobacco to be the star. I mix HS Tab and TFA RY4D and it tastes great but wouldn't really put it in the tobacco category. It's more of a sweet/dessert flavor.

That is sort of what i am looking for the custom/dessert type RY4. Just enough tobacco to say its in there. :)

I would recommend TAB and Deluxe then. They go really well with sweet additions. I personally find RY1 too light on flavor and the flavor itself is kinda "dry" if that makes sense. I've tried it straight at multiple strengths and kinda gave up on it. Others love it though so I'm an outlier.

Desert Ship is probably my favorite HS flavor. I can't live without it but I don't mix any flavors in with it other than some EM and/or AP. It would probably mix well though.

ETA: i saw your thread about ry4. If you like it sweet, a simple mix of HS Tab @ 5% and TFA RY4D @ 4% is a pretty awesome mix. I mix it for my friends and wife all the time. They love it.

I've been searching for good light tobaccos also. I haven't tried many that I like so far but I have used TFA ry4d. It's a good ry4 to me by itself, but I don't know how it would do mixing with other flavors. I mix it at 11% as a stand alone flavor, and I get a light taste of tobacco, but the sweetness is what is in the forefront. You pick up the vanilla and the caramel in this one. I've also tried Inawera Ry4. I actually like this one better, but it doesn't taste like ry4 to me. I hardly get any sweetness from this one. I can't pick out the vanilla or the caramel, but it has very good tobacco flavor. I'm looking forward to using this one as a base. I wasn't sure of % when I made the first batch and used 10%. WAY too much. Was still good flavor but I could tell it was just too strong. So I diluted it by half giving me 5% total flavoring and it is good tobacco flavoring to me. I think it will take vanillas, fruit, and anything else you want to mix with it well. I haven't tried any of the hangsen yet, but they seem to have the most fans when it comes to tobacco. A few of the FA and INW rate high also.

Hangsen Flavors as a rule are mild. T5 is one of the stronger ones, but the TU is very mild. FA 7 Leaves is a good balanced tobacco, but use sparingly, it can become very sharp and acrid. In fact I often use it to substitute TA which has become sort of unreliable, unavailable.

FA Virginia is mild but again in higher concentrations it gets a little "estery".

I have found the best way to keep tobaccos more "tobacco" is to avoid the common flaw they all have - if you rely on a single flavor, to get any taste you usually get some unwanted notes too. Try mixing more tobaccos in low levels.

Hangsen Ry1 4-5%
FlavourArt 7 Leaves 2%
FlavourArt Burley 1%
FlavourArt Shade 1%

Misc additives, a little caramel, etc

will give you a nice balanced "RY style" flavor without that overpowering "Wow. RY! Way too RY" that I routinely encounter when I sample vape store blends.
