Good morning guys, I'm new to this I just started recently with a HERCULES Sub Ohm tank & a ASPIRE CF Mod. I'm currently looking to start playing with rda. I'm trying to start with a Tiffany Blue Mechanical Mod (if anyone knows any good website to buy this please do share :p) as for the rda it self I have no idea what to start with. If you guys would send tips my way that would be awesome :) Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to the forum Tamara. Glad to have you here!:)

What type of "Tiffany Blue" mech mod are you looking for?

If you are new to mech mods and rebuildables I highly recommend you spend some time with @Baditude (one of our resident battery/safety experts) and visit his blogs. You are now 100% in control of your own safety (and others around you). Make sure you purchase an ohm reader and a voltmeter or DMM so you can measure your builds, check for shorts and measure the remaining charge on your batteries.

Baditude's Blog - Table of Contents: The blogs that address battery safety, Ohm's Law, CDR (continuous discharge rating/Amps) and how they all work together are detailed below:

BATTERIES

Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

Purple Efest Batteries not as Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

Thank you for the links :) I actually read over a lot of this. So that's why i'm looking to start playing with building coils and such. Are you asking like what brand? I was looking at the Tugboat Clone by Acerig (Tugboat Mechanical MOD Clone by Acerig - EVcigarettes.com but there are no reviews so i'm not sure how well it works. Do you know of any Tiffany Blue ones that have good reviews?

Just go ahead and buy an authentic tugboat you wont regret it. I promise . I previously owned a tugboat clone from acerig and my posts stripped in no time flat and vape cquality just wasnt what i wanted. Bought the authentic and so much better.

It's a little to expensive right now for me to buy to be honest, and it's something I want to experiment with before going all out.

Congrats on the setup. I wish sub-ohm tanks were a thing when i started. I think the best looking tiffany colored mech is the SIMPL. Looks killer and works really well from my own experience.

SMPL Mod Clone by A-MOD - Eciggity
I was looking at these too. Do they have good reviews? Also what kind of RDA do you recommend?

SMPL Mods are nice and reliable strong magnets are a need with those for lack of locking ring, I do agree the tugboat would be a nice addition with it has a forgiving building deck that's nice to learn on.

What's a strong magnet?

The SMPL comes with a decent magnet and has a adjustment screw on the bottom contact pin that can be set for the user preference in the "Throw" which is the distance the button moves between resting and fire you can experiment by placing the mod down on its base if it fires by resting its weight on the button its auto-firing you can adjust the contact pin by using a small flat head screw driver and turning it clock-wise until it has enough clearance to not auto-fire under it own weight

I'm in the same boat as Tamara, and I just started with my first RDA. I understand about not wanting to lay out a large lump of cash for the first one, so many people out there recommend the IGO series of drippers by UD. Easy to build on (a must feature for newbies) and less than $20.
Some clones are much better than others, if you want to go that route. Infinite makes versions that are nearly indistinguishable from the original, when the originals are nearly impossible to find. One of the best for flavor (not clouds) is the Magma RDA.

I have a Magma , And I do love it for flavors not much in the way of clouds and the Building deck personally for me can be a little cramped duel twisted 28g on it can be a chore.. but I have found it to be a well build and reliable RDA one of the first in it class to deliver airflow for the bottom of the deck to deliver a warm flavorful vape.

Alright guys so I've done my researching and i've decided to start just with a mech mod from the local store here in town and an atty also from there. My next step is finding online a good kit to build it that comes with Ohm Meter and everything else I need to build the coils and such. Does anyone remember the first kit they bought online? If so can you point me in the right direction of what kind of wire to start with and cotton and other things. Thanks in advance.
