I sound like a broken record, but check out the Magma.
Very easy to build and master. The airflow options easily taccommodate single or dual coils. Flavor is top notch, and it holds a lot of juice so it isnt as impractical as more traditional dripper designs. Vapor production can be quite good, but it is not a massive competition worthy cloud producing machine. It definitely produces enough vapor that it can attract unwanted attention in public places.

You can't go wrong with a plume veil. I got one from fasttech and now all my other atty's collect dust...

While I love the plume veil, I dont know that I would recommend it to a beginner. There is no practical way to run it as a single coil, not to mention it has a very very limited range of airflow control, and most beginners in the field arent looking to take massive lung hits all the time.

The best 3 post simple atty is also my favorite dripper, the quasar, I also have a clone from eBay that cost ten bucks and it's just as nice as my real one it's a fantastic device and very easy to build on.

Very good all around atty.

I'll second the Magma, especially for a beginner.

I agree with all of this except the fact that it can be set up in single or dual coil mode. My authentic can anyway as the top cap was designed for either configuration.

Thanks everyone for all your advice and input. I'm not quite sure what I want just yet. Still weighing all my options. While I am a beginner, I would like to get a good all around rda that will support me through my beginner and intermediate stages.
Authenticity isn't a huge concern for me simply because I know some clones are made equal if not better than the real ones. With that being said if I buy a clone that had a logo on it, the logo will be removed.
I'm torn between the magma plume veil and a few others at the moment. I need to do some research on the mutation and the Odin and see how I like those.

I second the magma. I have the infinite clone from fasttech and it's superb. Best flavour for a beginner.

My plume veil clone (not from fasttech) is also excellent but I wouldn't say it was an rda for a first timer. It's not difficult to build on its just got loads of airflow options and works better for lower ohm builds.

My first was a trident and alongside the magma I'd recommend any good 3 post rda with a typical airflow style like the trident, quasar, tobh etc etc. There are so many.

Just because your new to rebuilding doesn't mean you shouldn't buy something cool. All those are good options as a newbie your prolly not going to looking to fo low sub ohm so you would be well suited to get something that preforms best in that ohm range , the magma is a good option for sure, so are all the others you have seen mentioned. Ebay will make you happier that ft .

The magma is a great rda but it will restrict the kinds of builds you can do because of the airflow holes. If you want an rda that is versatile in the fact that you can build any kind of coils you want i would stick to something like a tugboat or vulcan or plumeveil etc. The vulcan is dead sexy btw
