I'm looking for a source for small quantities of plexiglass/acrylic/pmma tubing, preferably in metric sizes. Maybe my Google-fu is a little weak tonight, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I'm interested in making a custom genesis atty, as described by asdaq in his 30 penny pipe mod thread. It calls for 12od/11id plexi tube and 10mm aluminum stock. Anyone know where I could order foot or two of each?

The size is a bit off in your post, it is 12/10 plexi and these guys have it:

E22 Clear Extruded Acrylic Tubing - 12/10mm - 100cm Products Model: E22-TUBE-12-10-100 [E22-TUBE-12-10-100] : Performance-PCs.com, ... sleeve it and they will come

That is rather high shipping from Florida, this one from the UK works out to be a bit cheaper:

Shakmods 10mm ID 12mm OD Rigid Acrylic Tubing 500mm Length Clear | eBay

If you are turning the aluminum, you can use a SAE size (like 7/16") and turn it down as there is tolerance for the o-rings.

For that mod the size of the magnets decide the rest of the sizes, they are harder to find in metric sizes and the 12mm brass fitting is drilled a bit to take both the tubing for the atty and the 1/2" magnet.

You can see why I have some advantage to sourcing parts in both the US and Europe. :)

Thanks, asdaq. Yes, I wish more than ever that we had adopted the metric system here.

I wasn't planning on turning the aluminum, other than to stick it in my drill press to make the o-ring grooves. I'll see what I can do. I was hoping that there would be any easy US source for metric sized stock, since it's so much easier to figure out needed sizes in mm at this small scale.

Oh well, I'm just getting started. Maybe with practice I'll be tossing out "5/64ths" and "9/32nds" and "11/128ths" with the best of them :)

edit: spelling correction

Hey no worries. If you use the drill press then you'll be more advanced then me. Cutting the grooves is actually trickier than filing down the OD.

Also you could easily get away with just using 3/8"and just cutting grooves, just use a slightly larger o ring or a shallower groove.
