Happened on the first computer we ever had. Under my supervision, I let my son on it to do some research for school. I even watched him type it in (can’t remember what it was) and a x rated picture popped up.
I jumped up and closed the window---he sat there and stared.

Why not make it family browsing time?? Put 2 computers together next to each other and help each other out!? That way you can keep an eye on him/her whilst finding something interesting and buttz free together! Or you could type something in word whilst keeping them company!!

Well he usually is pegged to webkinz or pokemon pages but I think a friend at school put the idea in his head and he decided to give it a try. They dont get online that much anyway as we have never let our kids go brain-dead in that and tv. They didnt get any kind of video games until we bought the Xbox a couple years ago and my soon to be 14yo daughter just recently got a cell phone.

He is a good kid with a good heart so I have faith in him to do the right thing..doesn't mean I am naive though either. He is usually my tail wanting to help me around the house and in the garage...hes a pretty good oil changer too.

check your router and block key words.. it will not block everything but will get more of the graphic images..

even with parental control programs you would need to sit and manually block thousands of sites.. you can also set parental settings on google.

besides a kid that wants to see something will.. your best bet is say if I catch you doing that you loose the comp for a week, then just check the history all the time..

Yep...thats what Procon Latte does...replaces any foul words with ***. I told them I can see what they are doing because I control the router in my office. Like you said though...if they want to do it bad enough they will find a way...just hope he shares if he finds anything really good.

When my son was about 9, he was looking for water guns by searching "squirter". You cannot imagine what he found. Not funny!

A +1 for opendns. Set static dns in your router to the ones provided by opendns and use their dynamic IP updater. If he's grounded you could instantly block video games, chat, etc... He could always bypass it with a proxy, but if he is that savvy you can't stop the pron.

No need for that...I tell him to shut down...the light on the router goes off within a minute... end of story. Like I said...hes a good kid...ornery at times but good.
