I got a used ZEN Atty Pro for half the price at a local vape store today. I was looking for an efficient rba tank. The owner showed me a used Z-Atty Pro in excellent condition with 4 extra colored glass sleeves. I was always reluctant about this rba due to using the ceramic or steel mesh wicks. I use cotton in my Dripper RBA's and even the kanger coil heads for my Protank2. The owner showed me how he used cotton in his Kraken RBA. So I gave it a shot. So far very happy with the setup!

The coil is 30ga Kanthal of 9 wraps around a 5/64 bit. Measures 2.4 ohms. Wick is organic cotton. This nice thing is when I want to change flavors, just remove the cotton, clean everything, dry burn the coil to clean it, then re-wick. That fits my budget.

How are you liking it?

I bought one without doing enough homework and...so far I pretty much hate it.

The things I like:
1) It looks nice on the provari, the form factor and heft work for me

2) replacing a wick and coil is super easy

The things I don't like:
1) it lit on fire! Yeah. I worked the coil as directed using the dry burn process that was outlined in the instruction video. I brought the voltage up slowly, as directed. Then I filled the tank 3/4 full with a juice as directed. Then I juiced up the wick by tipping the device with the wick on the bottom to the point where the wick was saturated but not dripping, as directed. Then I burned the juice starting with low voltage, as directed (I got up to 3.2 volts, started at 2.9). Then the juice started on fire so I let go of the button but the juice kept burning, even after I held the device upright. I blew it out like a candle. I cleaned everything up and started over.

I didn't get another fire but what I have been getting are hot dry draws, even though the resistance is 2.4 ohms and I am using the Provari at 3.0 volts. Even though I am holding the device horizontally with the wick at the bottom. Even though I am taking slow draws so that there is no whistle sound.

2) I have to hold it with the wick on the bottom so that the firing button is in an awkward position.

3) I have to position the device horizontally.

4) The fact that a draw is like puffing on a lit candle because the wick doesn't wick very well.

5) I need a syringe to fill it.

6) I had to pry the top cap off with a screwdriver after unboxing the device because the o-rings were poor and had stuck to the cap.

All in all I'm so disappointed. I have no one to blame but myself. I didn't do enough research. I defaulted to something American made - which isn't a mistake but I placed that attribute too high on my reasons to buy list. And I simply assumed that since I liked the Provari so much that I would really like the ZAP. I don't. I would not personally recommend the ZAP.

Just wanted to put an update here - I re did the coil with a silica wick and it's fantastic. I now really like my ZAP. I wish they didn't sell it with the ceramic wick, it's just not as good with that. I haven't tried the steel mesh. But silica is great and I'd like to try cotton in it sometime too.

Thx again for your help!
