I have been taught a great lesson with this my latest purchase. Although the ZAP is nicer looking, way more expensive, and a lot harder to get....I actually get a much better vape from my cheapo, $30 AGA Hydra. Who woulda thought? The ZAP cap falls off all the time and it just does not feed as well as well as my old AGA. Oh well, I guess I have a nice looking paper weight. :banghead:

if the zap isn't performing as well as your aga then the problem is the wick/coil not the zap. Remove the wick hole insulator and stock wick if you haven't already. Both rba's are nearly identical in functionality. 99.9% of the performance is based on how well it coils and how well the coil fires. Don't give up so quickly. I own both and prefer the zap. I can clean it without taking out the wick/coil. I put a larger oring on the top and it is more secure than the aga

Thanks for the helpful tips. I just got frustrated because the AGA has always been rock solid and a great performer. When I dropped the dough for the Zap, I expected to have stellar results as well. I'm sure with enough time and tinkering, I can make the Zap blow clouds as well.

I have ordered some o rings for it based on advice from another post. We will see if that will keep it in one piece. Its just frustrating to spend so much money and still have to worry about it falling apart. Yes, I had heard about the cap issue before purchasing, but really felt that people were exaggerating, boy, I was wrong...

I did the same thing. I thought, Ah it can't be that bad. Well it is. There is no way you can stick it in any pocket for any length of time and expect it to stay on. With the correct oring it fits very tight and takes some serious torquing to remove. I had to try a couple different orings before I found one that was tight enough and could still slide the cover over. I have an oring kit so I had a nice variety. I really like mine now and rarely use my aga anymore. I hope you get yours up to snuff. Hang in there

You are not alone. My DID mini clone and Cobra clones vape far better than my MM DID. It's not only wick and coil but air flow and how they sit on the particular mods you have.

Waiting for DV to get the AGA T plus back in stock. Expensive RBA's are all about show. Don't get me wrong I am also presently hunting down a Caravela mod (A thing of beauty) but I know it is not going to perform any better than a 35 dollar copy mod.

I continue to tinker with my MM DID and perhaps one day I will get it to vape acceptably.

You will. It is fully capable of vaping as good as almost any other respectable genny out there. If it is wicking well and coil is firing perfectly if will produce a fantastic vape. IMO when it comes to performance ZAP=DID=DUD=AGA=AC9.... There will be very minor differences but the primary functions of them all are basically the same and all have the potential to perform at the same level

Yep, I too had some early issues with my Zap. I hunted for the zap for quite some time before I acquired it (came in two days ago) and in the meantime I ended up with several other RBAs. I did a couple things wrong with my zap the other night when I tried it out. First, I used a terrible juice at 24mg and bold tobacco taste using exactly what was shipped in the zap for the wick and coil.

I noticed the top fell off easily (which none of my other genesis RBAs did) and the zap seemed way too airy. I turned the air hole away from the wick but that did not help. I thought/think the air hole in the top my be too large for me.

However, after reading these posts I'm going to build my own wick and coil to see if that helps the vapor production and I'm going to use a juice I like much better. Hope these work for me.

it will help. IMO the stock wick/coil in the zap is fair at best. it wicks ok for a quick low wattage vape but will dry if you take a long pull at higher wattages. I don't agree with the wick hole insulator either. I'd much rather have a larger wick. I think it is so it will work right out of the box nearly every time and eliminate shorts in that area. I bought the ZAP purely for the looks and did not expect a performance upgrade over the aga. I love the airy draw after a little getting use to.

Hmmm, I didn't know the zap came with an insulator in the wick hole. I just grabbed mine and I don't see any insulator but I don't have any glasses handy and I'm am an old geezer. Got to get ready for work now but will examine it more closely tonight and also build a new wick and coil.

Thanks for the info and you are right, it looks much better on my provari :)

One thing I have learned from this is theaded caps are the way to go if you are using it beyond sitting at your desk.

Yea, I like the threaded. Seems like a downgrade to me going with the O-ring. Glad I got the aga-t with threads. Very simple to line up the air hole. I'm liking this thing more every day. Paid fifteen$ for it in the classifieds.

Yep exactly. If it had a threaded cap it would be great, but the way it is currently, other than the cool looks, it is useless to me.
