Got my Apex Alpha Ultramax+R.E.S. Looking for tips on using.

Hey there fellow ecf'ers.

I recently bought an Apex alpha. Paid $150 for it. Anyways, the unit I got wasnt complete, and I suspect was not brand new. The switch and RES broke after only a day of use! Instead of paying $70 something dollars for innovapor to send me a new switch and res, I ended up buying another unit from ecigz.com.au.
They only charged me $99.95. Unit was brand new in its original packaging and this time came with a really cool atomizer that matches the rest of the unit.

Anyways, I've been using it for the past 2 days and was after some tips.

Firstly, if I fill the res up (40 drops) I find when I take a drag that it seems blocked, no air getting through. Even if I only fill it with 10 drops, same issue. I find I have to drag a little harder and it does work but it gurgly, and I often find myself getting eliquid in my mouth.

Also, after 2-3 long drags, the atomizer gets too hot! Burns my lips
I know I can switch it for one with a plastic driptip, but haven't. I figured since this atomizer comes with the unit, it should perform better than my joye atomizers, right?

Anyways, any tips on these issues and others, that other alpha users have found would be really helpful.
I love the switch and the look of the unit. And after buying 2 of them, I would like to get my moneys worth outta them.

I'm using a LR 306 atty with a plastic driptip at the moment. Doesnt look as nice but doesn't burn my lips.
Also, I am just dripping 2 or 3 drops at a time and vaping.
I still haven't figured the R.E.S out, so any feedback would be helpful.

I'll bite- I'm a semi-new Apex ultramax user. Had it since november.

About the driptip getting hot- you'll get used to it. OR get the delrin ones. Same shape, much less heat conductivity. (I often use cartos with mine, and the heat is a lot less.)

40 drops is a lot- if the draw is too stiff, the RES is probably over full. YOu can take it out and dry it a little on a paper towel.

If it's gurgly with 10 drops, it probably isn't getting fully soaked into the RES. Give it a couple of minutes.

How dry is the RES when your starting? Gurgling is a sign of overfilled, too- might want to wash it (hot water) and let it dry overnight (or use a hairdryer) to start from "dry."

And...the RES takes practice. Take your time and work on it. It's a good vape when you get going.


DO NOT FILL IT IN SUBZERO CONDITIONS THEN GO INTO A WARM ROOM. ( I did that. Just don't)

THe atty with the kit should be an ordinary Joye low resistance atty. So feel free to swap around. (Some people don't like the Apex drip tip anyway, but personally, I think it's badass. A really tight fit in the atty, though- takes a little muscle to remove.)

Lol, got the same problem you had. I got the unit with lot of scratches and complained to innovapor that it doesn't look new. End of story, I send it back for refund.

Unfortunately, I am not in the states and did not order from innovapor.
I contacted the vendor I purchased it from, regarding the broken ceramic wick (i broke that after i dropped the res) and broken switch (that part came faulty). He referred me to innovapor. I was told the wick isnt covered in warranty, and decided it would be better value to get another unit for 99.95 rather than having new parts sent out.

Ande: How long do you have to wait? I have even tried it after leaving it to settle for almost half an hour, which is much longer than it says in the manual.

I'll keep at it. I heard there was a learning curve to using this unit, but didnt think it would be this difficult lols

I'm gonna say that half an hour is WAY long enough.

Try this- start with a dry RES, put ten drops in the atty. Then instead of waiting, just slowly blow into the drip tip. (Slowly and gently) This should force the liquid into the RES. Wait a minute of so for any excess drops to soak in, and you should be ready to go.

It sounds like you probably have some liquid already in the RES, so the capacity for more is lower than you think. I really would try giving it a clean. (I just do hot water from the tap, but some recommend boiling it.)

Come on over to the innovapor forum, and you'll meet lots who use the RES and like it!

The learning curve is real, but it shouldn't be extreme. I had mine working pretty consistantly within a day or two, working like a dream in a few weeks.

Broke it after two months. :-(

Thanks for the tip!
I did try blowing into it earlier but think I may have done so too hard.

I think I got it working nicely now.
So when the juice runs low I just give a quick sharp pull without activating the switch to bring more juice in, right?

I'll be sure to stop by the innovapor forums as I love my alpha

2 months? Damn!
I broke my first one in a day, lol, but I believe I was cheated and sent an old unit. Hopefully this one will last me as they aren't cheap!

And I find it's a good idea to take a break when the driptip gets too hot! As that's when I usually get liquid in my mouth lol
