Picked up the Revenger X kit the other day which comes with the NRG tank and have been having a bit of trouble getting much flavor with the stock coils. This one recommends 60-80 watts so i've tried around that range but to no avail. Have also tried going down to 50-55 and it just isn't there. I soaked the coil pretty good, so maybe it's just an issue with the stock coils? Have also tried adjusting the air flow a lot and that's helped a little, but not much. If anyone has advice on settings to use that might help the flavor out a bit, that would be fantastic. Or different coils I could try in this tank. The juice i'm vaping on doesn't list the exact PG/VG levels, just says max VG so I assume it's something like 80/20, because it still lists PG on the ingredients.

Some drop in coils have a break in period before the flavor starts to pop. You my need to vape a tank of it before it starts coming through and tasting its best.
Some juices are designed around different atomizers. I have some flavors i make that is great in a tank, but tastes bad or have too much flavor for an rda. I also have some that are great in an rda but almost flavorless in a tank, the juice you have may not work well with your equipment.

Yeah as already mentioned, pre-built coils usually requires a little break in.

I vaped at something around 48W on a 70/30 juice. It was good. I normally did MTL, with reduced air flow. But to be honest, after moving to self made coils, my 5 sub ohm tanks are just gathering dust.
patience is key. let the cotton saturate. up the wattage in increments of 5 until you find the sweet spot
In an RTA coil position is key in getting good flavour. With drop in coils your options are limited, try a different wattage range or even a stronger flavoured juice.

Just tried the hole poking method that i've seen recommended for the GT tanks, not sure if I did it wrong but the flavor was even worse, so I might have ruined the coil. Really wish I didn't need to do some workaround just to get the thing to work properly..
Drop in coils are convenient. However they are not cheap, and don't offer many tweaking options when they don't work properly.

I used drop in coil tanks for a little bit when I started. Then I got an RTA. I have not even thought about using my drop in coil tanks since, and actually sold all but one of them. If you are able, I would give some serious thought about trying an RTA. It can be fine tuned to fit you instead of conforming yourself to pre made coils.
I just don't know how to build my own coils, just barely experimented years ago with an old mech mod with little success. Also don't have a lot of money left after buying this Revenger X kit..
That is understandable, I live on a fairly tight budget too and have to save my pennies if I want something new.
Coils are easy after you do it a bit. I wouldn't start building for a mech though, a mech needs to be built very carefully and you need to know exactly what your doing. Just start with simple single strand round wire and get used to it first before trying anything fancy.
As for the drop in coil tank, maybe a new coil would help. Just make sure it is nice and primed up before using it at all. If you singe the cotton it can taste horrible and will need replaced again.
I have the same tank/ mid, and those coils do need to run through and then they’ll get better flavor. Ignore the suggested wattage and always start much lower and adjust up until it’s what you like. Starting too high with toast them.
