when this thing works it works great, sometimes it doesnt want to fire though. i am using an adaptor with a ego vision stardust clearomizer, im vaping at 4 volts. any thoughts why it doesnt always want to fire?

Is this with all cartomizers/atomizers? I ask because this could be a connector issue..if you carefully pull up on the center pin of the connector on the device or the carto/atty and it fixes they issue it's just the pin not making good contact..I haven't seen this with my "LT" though.
If it's not a connector issue it could be the button or another issue like the battery contacts..this may or may not be a simple "fix" depending..if it isn't you should contact the vendor for suggestions or a replacement...

meter the resistance on that carto. Some of the knockoff stardusts are LR. some units have been known to have an issue when the button is pressed too light. Pbusardo's review demonstrated it. they may even click without contacting.
also, take the battery out and blow in the tube, the button might not be making contact, cover the 3 small holes (voltage up/down & power) as best you can and blow in a couple times as hard as you can with the button pressed and then without the button pressed, i had the same problem when i got mine
