There really isn't a set lifespan on any of these devices. Everyone vapes different. Devices are built different. Hell...given the similarities it's the same as predicting the lifespan of a light bulb...LOL
Aside from that, I have some cartomizers hitting a month in age an have been topped off countless times. I also have a few that lasted about a week.
Just keep spares and don't worry so much about lifespan.

I've been rotating 15 510 Boge cartomizers (hard caps) for the last three weeks (refilling and/or topping off very often) and added 20 more 510 Boge cartos (soft caps) about 10 days ago. Only two have died so far, and that was just after I soaked 11 of them in almost-boiling water. I won't do that again and will just squirt hot tap water through them (from both ends) using the 10mL syringe and rubber cone that you can get at Walmart for under $5. They dry fine in a day or two, if you blow the water out of both ends, and place them by a fan. Flushing them this way is also a good way to get rid of bad-tasting juice.

Deback is correct that the 510 cartos, even the genuine Joye brand, can be washed out by using a child's medicine syringe -- no needle involved -- that comes with a rubber cone that attaches to the business end of the syringe where a needle would go if there was one. This can be picked up in any drug store. They are used for administering liquid medicine to infants and small children. What you can do is attach the rubber cone to the 510 carto on the battery end, then attach the syringe to the other end of the cone. Run some very hot, not boiling, water into a bowl. With the carto now attached to the rubber cone of the syringe, put the mouthpiece end of the carto into the hot water and draw water into the syringe, then push it back out. Do this maybe 10 times to flush out the juice and any impurities. Then pull the carto out of the water and point it into the bowl or a sink and pump the syringe about 50 times quickly to force air through the carto. This will push the excess water out. They will finish drying on their own in a day or two, especially if you have a sunny spot to stand them up with the mouthpiece at the top.

Thanks for the tip about pumping air through the cartos. Hadn't thought of that. And thanks for explaining how you're flushing your cartos. I was doing it the hard way (without drawing the water into the rubber cone, but taking the syringe out to suck the water in, reattaching it, and then pumping -- and then turning the carto around and attaching the opposite end to the rubber cone). Sometimes, it takes me a while to figure out the right way to do things. :)
