So, I got my order, VERY happy with V4L, great customer service, great product, nice packaging, and a few "extras" put a big smile on my face.

I could not be happier with V4L as a company, you rock Steve!

But I'm having a huge problem with the e-cigarette thing, man-O-man is it harsh!

I started off tring to take a "normal cigarette" like drag, boy was that a mistake!

The vapor cut into my throat like a knife, VERY harsh, after a five minute coughing fit, I tried again at a lower intensity, I can take tiny little baby drags, but anything more than that and I am coughing and in pain.

I am shocked, I thought it would be the opposite, where I would be inhaling air and constantly wanting more, but it's the opposite, I find I can't inhale the vapor deep enough to satisfy my craving.

Maybe I need a different flavor, or a different nic level or something, or maybe I'm just sensitive to PG or something, but if I can't find something smoother I don't think this is going to work out for me.

Anyone else have this problem?

What ecig model is it. Could be factory primer in the atty you are tasting. Also did you put on a cart or use the one it shipped with? Switch carts and see how that works. some starter kits come with more than one atty switch attys and see how that works.

You didn't mention what you were vaping but my suspicion is that the nic level was WAY high. It depends some on what you were smoking before but it's not unusual for your experience when you are so new to the process.

Different flavors do matter.

You may just need to try something different on the nic level and the flavor..

Yeah, I would guess it's the nicotine level.

The consensus seems to be, the higher the nicotine level the stronger the throat hit and less flavor coming through. The lower the nicotine level, more tame throat hit, if any, and packs the most flavor.

I wouldn't give up on vaping, just try a lower level and maybe a smooth flavor - like Doc Pepper or Coffee?

I think V4L should maybe offer a "starter cartomizer" pack to come along with the Ultimate Ultimatum kit - 5 of one flavor at different nicotine levels? Some way to discover your optimal level?

What style draw do you use? There is a learning curve to the e-cigs, especially the auto batteries. A nice, sloooooow and easy draw is best. I find drawing it slowly into my mouth and then inhaling it all at once at the end of the draw works best for me. Direct inhaling I think can be too harsh for some, so if you inhale directly into the lungs, you might try drawing into your mouth first. And as other mentioned, your nic level may be too high - what are you using?

Don't drop the ecig yet!!!

When I first got my ecig, boy it was harsh...way too harsh...like you said, it's like a knife in the throat I couldn't even do a regular cig draw, but luckily steve and Mark had sent me 0mg pineapple and some other 0mg. on top of it I ordered some omg choco just incase...

I used the smooth flavours on the first day and then after one day I could vape the 11mg stuff and gradually I could use almond joy 18, pinacolada 18mg.. Now I can take a 6 sec hit of the harsh stuff I have and not even come to to coughing.

Give it a try for at least 3-4 days, small and slow hits preferably pineapple or chocolate or mint in low nic.

Hang on, day after day you'll love vaping more and more!!

V4L baby!!!!!!!

Hey guys!

Thanks a lot, wow this forum is fast I didn't expect so many replies so soon, I really appreciate the help.

Steve sent me two different flavors, both of them are at 24mg nic strength.

One is Mrbro and the other is Parliament

I'm Canadian, so our flavor is a lot different then the American brands, but I' ve had these American flavors and liked them, the flavor is not so bad on the carts, not great, but livable, it's just the harshness of the vapor that's the problem.

Now I am wondering is it the flavor of the juice that causes harsh vapor or is it the nic strength, I could definitely go down on the nic strength and probably should...as far as flavor maybe I should just stay away from the cigarette flavored ones and stick to the fruity/sweet flavors?

Everyone seems to really like the pineapple one, maybe I should order that.

I wish they sold a variety pack so that you could get a whole bunch of different flavors to see what you like best without spending a fortune.

Anyway, what is the smoothest flavor and strength in your opinion?

I found it harsh in the beginning too, and somedays I still find it harsh. I started with 24mg but found that 18 on a battery and 11 on a passthrough is just right for me. I like the parlaments but everyone is different. I think that the white chocolate strawberry has a really nice smooth taste, but again everyone is different. I haven't tried pineapple yet. Try taking small soft sips, hold it in your mouth then inhale (one sip at a time). I also found that if I tried after I smoked an analog that I could handle the vape better. I was trying to use the thing like an analog - yikes! go slow and easy and keep trying. Don't give up, you'll find something that you like. At that point you will cut down or give up the analogs altogether.

Yeah I bought the pass-through as well and I noticed how much stronger it is, big difference...I'm trying to use the thing to quit smoking, and even though it's so harsh I can tell that it would work better than anything I've tried so far.

This kicks the tar out of the patch or zban for sure, I smoked just as much with the patch on and smoked in my dreams with the zyban as well as just as much during the day...lol

I like the mouth feel, and the vapor totally convinces my mind that I am smoking...I'm pretty impressed with the product, I got it this morning and I have only had a few cigs, so I definitely think it would work if I can iron out this harshness problem.

I had exactly the same problem. I still can't vape tobacco flavors.

I've found the smoothest hit is mint, and I can vape 36 mg in those, so I don't think it's the nicotine level.

Don't give up. There's definitely a learning curve. You "learned" to smoke years ago. You can learn to vape.

Edit: You also don't mention if you got auto or manual batteries. Just my opinion, but I prefer manuals to preheat the atomizer before I drag.

Don't feel bad! I have carts in a ton of flavors now just trying to find what works for me. I've poured literally thousands and thousands of dollar into cigarettes over the years. I don't regret spending some money to get rid of them forever.

I had the same thing, but probably to a lesser degree because I started out with lower nic levels. What I found off the bat was that the 0mg (no-nic) did NOT make me cough at all, and the 8mg was not too bad... anything higher I couldn't get into my lungs... just coughed it right back out of my throat.

After a few weeks, I found that I can easily vape up to 11mg and can even handle 18mg if I use the method mentioned by JenJen.

Don't give up! If you are a heavy-ish smoker you may need to just vape the 8mgs more often, until you get your throat used to the nicotine tickle. It doesn't take long. As far as I'm concerned the less nic the better anyway. You don't need much... and a huge part of the smoking addiction is the "ritual"... which even the 0mgs will satisfy. And they taste a million times better than the cancer sticks!

You're right, considering smokes cost 9 bucks a pack here I should not be concerned about shelling out a few bucks to try to make this work.

I have both, the manual and the auto batteries...I find the manual ones heat up better.

Ok, here us what I suggest, order 5 boxes, I will ship you a plethora of eberything, 0 nic -18mg....custom made, just for you, as well as 5 extra juice to refill, and some blanks carts to fill from the start. I cannot tell, ehst we need to do, to get you going proper. The 5 juice, at 3.5 per bottle pretty much covers the shipping, if need be, I will send more. We need to help asap.:thumb:

Let us know, our V4L family, is the GREATEST anywhere, and all we would love to do, is help you.

If I could only have one flavor :)shock: heaven forbid!), I would pick Coffee. I could vape that one all day, every day. Peach Cobbler is awesome, also love the Pineapple, Chocolate and Ice Cream Sundae is a new fave. The list of flavors I like is looooooong, but those are my current top five. Ooooh and the Lemon Merangue......:p
