Just got my Prodigy in...fantastic shiptime I must say, although I guess that's USPS there. Even so it came in before the 2-3 weeks quoted when I clicked the order button, so I'm calling it good there too.

I got the basic Prodigy/901 because I have several 901 atomizers and a few spare sets of batteries wandering around my house. It came well padded in a white mailer, waiting for me when I got back from school today. (Got a 95 on my final so I was in a good mood anyway! hehe)

Opened it all up, inserted batteries, took the atomizer off my 901 manual passthrough/kensington battery pack setup and began vaping. Just that easy! My normal juice tasted good, but it was a tad low so I added a drizzle (I was expecting drops to come out of the 60ml bottle, it drizzled out in a stream lol) of Riskee Yuice, and vaped some more. Nice, good throat hit.

In all honesty I expected more flavor, but, I think my flavor buds are just dead. So far menthol -- homemade -- is the only thing that gives me much flavor. And my (adult) son says that tastes like Vicks, while I think it's just right...LOL And, I expected more vapor (ie, uncontrollable vapor) but I didn't get that -- I do believe this is ME as I never got much vapor on my beginning setup either, but I'm okay with that. I think I don't suck long enough, or something. Anyway vapor isn't my "thing" throat hit is, so I've never developed good vapor output technique I guess! If I suck then blow out (No inhale) there's a goodly amount of vapor.

My atomizer didn't get overly hot -- no worse than I have done with my passthrough BUT that runs at 5v so I'm going to assume I'm USED to 5v and the whining I did while using standard batteries means I wouldn't be really happy with lesser (unless I were desperate for less obvious -- jury's out on that)

It really is HUGE..no way I'm ever gonna consider hiding this in my hand, it's just far larger than my hand ever thought of being. But I knew it was big when I ordered. I need to get some pretty stickies to put on it to make it feminine :thumb:

I took my first puff at 4pm, from fully charged batteries. I'm going to keep track and see just how far one set of batteries can take me...

Overall, I think this is the best money I've spent in a few months! (getting the 901 setup was good too though, it got me off cigs)

Thank you for such a wonderful product, PureSmoker, you have a winner on your hands!

welcome... you should try some other adapters too... i know what you mean about the vapor output... i get huge hits of vapor from my 801, but my friends who have tried it dont... i guess there is a technique... not sure...

i love prodigy and i love seeing people buy it since i got my own only a few days ago... convincing my analog smoker buddies to make the change =]

I'm seriously considering the 801 adapter, mainly because the carts are supposed to hold so much more juice. I tend to vape pretty steadily while driving, and since my college is an hour's drive away, I drive a lot! It would be a lot more convenient. I'll probably order an adapter and 1 atty and see..then decide which type of atty I'm going to put a bulk order in for! I'm really liking the new bulk pricing PS has going :)

I also wonder if I'd have more flavor with the 801... I like my menthol but I just feel like I'm missing something by using ONLY menthol... Anyone that's used both, does the flavor seem greater with the 801 compared to the 901?

Yira:

I primarily vape menthol and have both 801 and 901 so here is a comparison (IMHO):

901 = better flavor

801 = more vapor

If you have the money, then I recommend having both adapters. Overall, my favorite is the 901, but find that I trade off between the 801 and the 901 depending on my mood.

I hope this helps...

Hi Yira,

The 801 Atty's Steve is currently offering are NOT recommended for use with carts as they are Tall-Bridge atty's.

I also spend alot of time (40 min.s each way) on my daily commute so I understand the need for a "Driving Friendly" Prodigy setup.

See my post here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ewbie-here-2-questions-please.html#post473031 for a great "Commuting" atty that gets me to work without having to swap carts or top off while driving.

Hey all, sorry for being so long in getting back. Finals week, then my boyfriend flying in to visit...been spending more time off the computer than on :)

Anyway I have found my batteries last me about a day and a half, if I push it. I just change them out every morning though, but if it came to being out of power (happens a lot here in the sticks...) I know I have enough battery power to last almost a week...that's a huge bonus! (I have 4 sets of batteries) Of course I do have the car charger too but it's nice to know I am set in case of weather-related issues.

I'm finding I get better throat hit from the Prodigy than I did the passthrough setup (which I have kept for backup purpose...) So, far from worrying about my atty overheating, I'm finding it rarely gets quite as hot as the passthrough...another bonus! It gets comfortably warm, but never OWW! hot when I touch it to my lip -- it often got that hot on the passthrough.

I've found the awesome power of vapor in the Prodigy -- I had added 20% VG to my pure PG homemade mix to thicken it a bit. I was having an issue with my cart leaking juice, and with all else being equal decided it was just too thin to stay in the filter material properly. (Due to the large amount of menthol drops I add)

Unfortunately I don't LIKE that huge amount of vapor...LOL! Inconspicuous isn't possible. Holding my breath til I have to breathe or pass out doesn't even dispell it all...hehe (tried it at the airport...) I'll be adjusting down the amount of VG I use to hit a "sweet spot" not leaking out the cart but hopefully not billowing clouds that hang in the air either...hehe

Thanks for the 901/801 comparison, Tescela. I'll be sticking with the 901 -- I already have issues with not tasting my juice (boo me) and more vapor isn't my goal. As the saying goes, if it's not broke, don't fix it...I'm happy with the 901, and I'll just keep on using that :) Being a student and single mom, I don't need to buy things if they're not going to be better than what I have!

I have to say, my only complaint is that end cap...I'm still not having much luck with it, I keep waiting for it to get easier to twist on/off but it's not happening, even after a week. Lining it up to screw on can be interesting, not much to hold on to, etc etc. Plus my spring-thingy that pushes on the batteries came loose so I have to balance that with push/twist and hope it all goes together well -- usually takes me a few tries to get it all together hehe. Of course that's only 7 times, so perhaps I'm being too impatient. One thing for sure, if they decide to add a different end cap, perhaps like the Protege one, I'm ordering! In pretty brass, if you're reading, Steve...*g* Oh, and a brass 901 adapter too! Yep, I'd order those in a heartbeat :)

I'm sticking with my original opinion though -- this Prodigy is a godsend to my vaping habit, and it's the best money I've spent in a good long time! Consistent, always there, reliable. That's what I call a good buy. I'll be recommending this to friends, and I'm glad for the business cards included in the packaging.
