Well beleive it or not I am actually making progress. I am hoping in the next day or two to be able to report my first experience with the electronic cigarette. Several people on this forum have helped and I got to speak with Jeff from Wordup-ecig. He walked me through the starting steps and in the process we discovered I had ruined one cartomizer. the cost of learning I guess. I have my battery charging up full right now and will proceed with testing when I get home tonight. I do have some more questions though. Can anyone tell me the difference between an auto battery and a manual battery? Which is best? Which lasts the longest? also Jeff mentioned that the cartomizer can be ruined by not having the liquid in it. How do we tell when the liquid is running low?????????
thanks for help and onward. :2cool:

Auto means you suck and it vapes, manual means you press button and it produces vapor if you are sucking or not. I like the manual myself i have just not been able to get good hits off the autos.

There is less vapor and the vapor is becoming tasteless

Most people here recommend manuals. I tried one auto. I think manual is less work (no extra dragging to warm it up), provides more consistent hits, less likely to be killed by a juice drip from the carto or atty (autos have an open hole in the middle of the threaded end for the drag sensor), won't get turned on accidentally by wind or vibration

Only downside I know of is if you have a DSE901 not sure about DSE801 etc) their PCCs don't work with manual batteries (the hard tubular sections don't allow room for a manual button to go in and out without stressing the button), But you could charge DSE901 manuals withe the less roomy KR808D-1 PCC. ALso with manuals you need to hold it with a finger on the button so a 2-finger V-grip won't work.

BTW when you use a manual it only makes vapor when the button is held in. Do your press and release a bit earlier in time than starting and ending your drag. press in, 1/2-1 second later start dragging........let up button..finish end of drag

It only takes about 30 minutes for the button to become second nature.

Re cartos - yeah hard to tell when they need liquid. If it tastes drier or making less vapor or anything like that, first I tilt it with mouth-end down, and might also rotate it as if it was rolling (to distribute the liquid better). Try briefly again and if it still tastes drier or less vapor, I add juice.

They also make some clear cartos called Clearomizer (or supposedly somewhat improved at GotVapes.com as Fluxomizer). They are kind of funny looking, a bit flimsy, need to be filled with a special (flexible I think) syringe, but you can see the liquid. The clear ones are brand new and I imagine they will make improvements in the future.

Ok, thanks. I assume as I go merrily along I will learn. I hope, maybe you can teach an old dog new tricks???
