cool, I think I might throw out that cart though. just tried it again after letting it sit after I put 2 drops in and it still leaked and another cart is losing flavor and vapor even after I topped it off a few times. so now I'm down to 3, when these go out I think I'll just discard them and give away my juices, don't really care for them and want to try some tobacco/menthol flavors.

Manuals are not as bad as autos. Get a plastic cap from a soda or water bottle (or whatever). Fill it 3/4 full of isoprophyl alcohol and stand the battery up in it for 10 minutes. Shake any extra moisture out (thermometer shake), wipe it down and let it air dry for 15 minutes and you should be fine.

In the future, best to put the "buttplug" on when filling. After that, try taking a puff before you put it on the battery. If it gurgles, you've got too much in it. Blow out the extra into a kleenex. Always wipe off the threads after filling.

THat's how I do it and it will help avoid disaster and give you a better idea how much to put in next time.

on most (all?)808 manual batteries the hole doesn't actually go into the battery. but even on my autos i've gotten liquid in them many times... one finally started acting up after about 5 months (I wasn't even expecting them to last that long even with perfect care, which i definitely don't give them). I figured there was nothing to lose with that one, so ran it under very hot water, from the threaded end, soaked the whole thing in alcohol, then ran under water again directly into the hole (as far as i can tell, none of this is recommended, but it was either that or toss it in the trash) that battery still works today. (although I think I fried something on the board because if you charge it all the way up it acts weird, I think if i'd let it dry completely before using it maybe even that wouldn't have happened, but the diaphragm switch works perfectly)

Anyway, it's to the point now where I don't even worry about liquid in there anymore. I try not to get any in there, but I also don't freak out and go out of my way to try to "save my battery" either.

KR8 batteries are pretty tough, I drop mine all the time. However, my brother washed his in the washer with his shirt (forgot they were in the pocket) and killed em dead. We let them air dry for about 2 months then tried to charge them (in the charger for 2 days), nothing.

if they still have the washed batteries try this.. i had the same thing happen to me...

take the rubber button off fill with everclear and shake it around and drain it a few times.. then let it dry.. there is salts in detergent my guess is that they where the problem when they dried onto the little board..

Not even 10 days after my post above, one of my auto batts got submerged. It has sat in rice for days drying out but not working yet. I think that one's a goner too. :(

don't give up yet... I thought mine was gone too. being wet apparently killed off all the charge mine had. throw it on a charger, give it at least 30 minutes. If they're REALLY low on charge, the charger won't even know it's there. I screwed mine on, no lights flashed, nothing. then a while latter, out of the corner of my eye, I saw the led on the battery flash it's 4 times like I had just put it on... works fine now, but it was at least a week from when I put it in rice until I left it on the charger that long. (I had tried several short charges before then, all no good.)

thanks...but it's too late, they have been in trash heaven for a while now, lol. Mine didn't have a rubber button and I've tried to take apart a dead passthrough once, destroyed it, I only wanted to see what was inside.

We can't get everclear in Michigan anymore. I've been told you can use vodka or rubbing alcohol as a substitue.

I will keep this in mind if it happens again.
