This all started out when I wanted to convert my children to e-smoking. At first (a few years back, they did not take to it). Too much hassle, equipment breaking down, inconsistant vapor (we all know the story).

Then a year ago I went again to visit and happen to leave my provari on the table...well you know kids and gadgets (they must try them). I always keep mine maintained, full and charged....so much easier for them to vape and go.
After about 2 weeks I noticed both had stopped smoking, and my provari seemed to be alittle less visible when I went to look for it, so I decided to purchace another and a vamo as a back-up.

They both then confessed they had given up smoking and were only vaping (by now it has been 2 months). I think this is great, so as mom I go out and get them both their own set-up...provari, batteries, charger tank, cartos, carts punch, and juice.
It becomes their prized possession (so much as my daughter has gotten into the "pimp my provari" stage).

They only problem is I still want to keep it as problem free as possible, so I take it upon myself to do the ordering, when I order my stuff. Like cartos and juice and just send it to them after I take out my portion (no problem).

The problem comes when their friends see their set-up and "want one just like theirs"... first of all they have no idea what the hell they even have, no matter how many time I try explaining it to them. Second, they decide to be kind hearted and say "let me ask my mom, I'm sure she will give you all the info to get a set-up like mine:unsure:.

I like to get the word out about e-cigarettes but this is getting alittle time consuming, especially when you are done talking for an hour and they say, "holy ...., they cost that much"...well you wanted a set up like hers.
If you try and start them out with something simple they say "that never worked for me, I want one like hers"

I think someone needs to write a book called the "JOY OF E-SMOKING" with all the info someone needs, and they don't have to get on the internet to find it....or have pamphlets to give out that explain more things then I am willing to.

RANT OVER...BACK TO YOUR REGULAR SCHEDULED PROGRAM!

You're so kind, coffee addict. My mom might spit on me if i were on fire... but only after she's berated me for it.

I think this is a very good reason why it's important to go in baby steps, sure we can maybe skip the cigalikes and go straight to egos, but when people howl "just get a provari!" at a newfriend in the new members forum, i'm afraid it'll scare them off, too. Especially when some people are perfectly happy with the basics forever and ever. If not for the FDA scare i'd probably still be using egos exclusively, myself.

I'm sure you have the very best of intentions, but they've missed the entire cost ratio investment decision part of it, so they aren't passing that on to their friends. Your best bet might be to keep a couple of those cheapie ego style kits on hand (i've seen some called the Katana kit on vapor joe's.. you can get em for peanuts on fasttech anymore) to lend to interested parties. They may decide that that's good enough, or they may decide that a fancier mod may be worth the price tag after all.

Good luck, OP.

How about just a short list of links? Make sure to include something cheap like the Katana kit and, of course, ECF. And, instead of going through all the details of how it works, a few links for that too (like PBusardo's Beginner's Guide and such).

They're not your kids. They can do the research for themselves. They'll absorb it better that way without turning you into a crutch. A really good list of links is probably even better anyway. That way they can go back to it over and over again as they need it.

Wow you're such a lovely woman :)

I'm 25 and I don't want to appear like a know it all trying to give you advice, just my view on this matter.

I would say to the people like me, money is an issue. I'm like you and I like sharing my views on vaping and how people can do it - so this is how I deal with it whilst trying to make the best use of my time.

Costs out first - money is important to people I try to convert so I either tell them the cost of my set up or ask what they intend the cost of their set up to be straight away.

Let your kids do the sharing - gradually get your kids to understand more and take more choice and control of their vaping they can share more experience then, keeping the natterer's away from you.

Try not to get so caught up and prioritize your circles - There's people on my radar who I try to convert day in and out, then people who I will talk to about it from time to time, others if they ask and then the people who just get the easiest response I can think of.

I really admire you're selflessness and anthropological nature :)

Well I should say my "kids" are not so much kids as they are over 25. I have bought them a vamo as a back-up, and have tried to get the friends to use them or start off with an ego twist (which I believe is a good starter). All they have to say is, no yours feel much more durable than those cheap ones
Maybe they just have more money than I did at that age or something. I sure would not be putting out about 300.00 for something I was not totally sure about.
Like I tell them, I have been doing this for 5 years, I think I can tell the difference. I just think they would be better off starting out with something less.
I would have started my kids out with something less if it wasn't for me having the provari and leaving it sitting aroung within easy reach for them to use. It was kinda hard for me to talk them into using a vamo after they had been using my provari. Just keeping them vaping was worth the money to me, but they both do have lesser e-cigs as back-ups.

So is the problem that you children's friends are asking you to buy them a provari.. or that you started them out on an expensive mod to begin with?
At 25 my parents would have laughed if i had asked for something like a provari.. i would have to go out and earn the money to buy it. Until then.. a "lesser ecig" would have to do.

Coffee Addict, you a kind mom. But, perhaps it would have been "kinder" to say "NO" and let them pursue their own learning/financial curves? I see a lot of this in the business world; mom and dad, with all the best intentions in the world, trying to "smooth the way" for their children, only to have said children become almost completely clueless without that continued help.

I would give your children printed information about where you purchased everything, including the costs, a link to ECF and let THEM give information to their friends. When you "work for it," you tend to appreciate it more.

Oh no...no one is "asking me to buy anything". My one child seemed to "borrow my provari" so I just bought myself a new one.
Then the other borrowed that and I bought myself another.
Then when friends (some who have tried cig-a-likes or other vape type products) see their set-up, they instantly "want one" like the ones my kids have.
Well that is all fine and good with me, if they have the money then go ahead and get it....I'm more than willing to point you in the right direction (believe me I have enough bussiness cards from Provape)

The problem comes along when....what is a tank, what is a carto, what size do I need, how much juice do I need, how do I punch cartos, wha tip do I use, is this screwed on too tight, why is it leaking, how long do cartos last.....etc
Please, I gave you the site and a bussiness card, I'm just tired of the e-mails and questions...I did this on my own when there was ALOT less info out there...I'm sure they can do it too.
