I ordered this as soon as I saw it listed by Desire Ecig in China.
I paid $29.98 including shipping to the US.
They sold out fast, but I'm sure they will be getting more.

I do believe there is another model (sold in the UK) that comes with 18350 tube as well, but this one is 18650 only.

I took a gamble ordering this (as I do with all unreveiwed clones). I saw the copper 510 pins, brass switch, solid 18650 tube and thought it looked good. I watched Desire Ecigs video after I ordered it. That's when I saw the lock ring just keep spinning when trying to lock the button. I thought maybe the pin was loose and the guy showing it in the video was not very competent. Or it really was this bad and I'm gonna get a junk device. I got it today and it does just keep spinning...

Well, before I even took any pics of it I tore it down. It came with a light brushed (like after machining clean up) finish. Not great, but not bad either. The threads had a little junk left in them. I decided to do a bit better on the brushing of the tube and get rid of the logo.
The logo came off pretty easily with a little sanding. Then I brushed the tube with a scouring pad. I used a dremel and a little rouge to shine up the top cap, bottom housing, lock ring, button etc. Then cleaned up the bits a little with some mothers mag polish. And used a pick and some sand paper on the threads.

I really didn't spend much time doing all this. I was more concerned with putting it back together and fixing the switch/lock ring. So, I found a little o-ring (not sure the size - just out of the spares box lol) - smaller than a 510 drip tip o-ring - and stuck it under the brass firing pin nut. I also replaced the stock spring with a real GP Paps switch spring (I ordered a few of them a long ways back for something else). The stock spring works, it's just a little stiffer than the GP paps spring. But now it's a touch switch. I couldn't even measure the throw. The button recesses into the housing about 1mm when unlocked and sets nicely on a flat surface without firing (obviously cuz it don't touch). Lock ring no longer keeps spinning. It stops at 540 degrees.

I now regret not taking before pics for everyone to see. Too late now.

So here's some pics after my quick work on it.

With a KFL (+nano kit) clone of course.

I made a quick video of the button (after my modifications) to show the touch switch and lock ring throw.
Sorry, did it with my uncoordinated left hand while trying to look at it through my iphone in my right hand.

I don't normally like recessed switches - but this is great (now).

Oh, ordering from Desire Ecig was great btw. I received this in 9 days total from date of order (and that includes one day that USPS almost delivering to the wrong address in another state).

Great review. Just mine in yesterday from Desire. Their latest batch. Mine did not have any issues with spinning on the locking ring. I also went to replace the stock spring with an authentic paps spring but the authentic spring does not fit. The authentic spring is a larger diameter than the recessed hole which the stock spring sits. If I place the authentic spring in there it sits outside of the recessed hole and displaces the throw of the button so that there is no travel (as spring is compressed beneath the button preventing it from moving).

Not a deal breaker for me as it seems the stock spring is light enough and seems to work fine.

Sorry to the OP for hijacking this thread but I could not find a better place to post this. I was taking apart my switch and somehow managed to lose the hex nut which keeps the button in place. Apparently this hex nut is neither a standard or metric size as I tried all of the hex nuts available off the shelf (thanks china). Does anyone know where I can get a replacement hex nut for these?

Different manufacturer.
GP clone in brass
Made by Hot technologies.
No issues with locking ring, but did require the O-ring under the nut to get tht micro short throw.

Vent holes are places lower on mine than the one in the OP

No need to worry
Overall it's a nice mod but its obviously not a legit GP.

Is the switch and button 20*1 threaded? The one from desire ecigs is 20*.8.

Thanks.

Local B&M
EVapor station in Rancho Mirage, CA
The owner is very cool and let's me pick up some of the gear as soon as it comes in, to check out and give them the Ninja treatment and see how they hold up.
This one was sent to him as a sample. I got it to check out and ended up buying it
:)
I get my hands on a lot of stuff from Hot, Tobeco, some EHPro and HCigar, and a few others.
The Hot technogy stuff is pretty good.
Up there with HCigar.
The Hot Nemmy clone is better than the Tobeco Nemmy.
The GP is not bad, just not really 1:1

Went looking at the link in the OP and found they offer the V2 (all 3 tubes) also:
GP PAPS Style MOD V2 (High quality,Copper Contact & Switch)
If I had the funds I'd be really tempted to get one.

NOW with COPPER BUTTON AND COPPER CONTACTS!
Mine already has copper 510 pins. But I want a copper button!

LOOK at the video! They copied MY Oring SWITCH FIX! LOL.

Not to voop on anyones parade... but what's the point of a Paps clone if they fail to reproduce both the button and the threading?

I would love a 1:1 without logos. The one that Desire Ecig and FT are selling (the one I have is not 1:1 but still close); and the logo was etched and came off easily. One small "fix" installing an o-ring under the firing pin nut made this into a recessed touch switch. It's great!

I watched a few of their vids. I like that each showed how to adjust the mod for battery length and 510 connector length if applicable. Also rather liked the music they used on the V2 vid. It's a rockified version of a classical piece of music but between the huge uptempo and instrument changes I can't place it and it's driving me buggy. I'd love to know what it is, either classical original or the modern one.

Only problem now is coming up with $60 bucks so I can get it and something else because I'm too cheap to spend $5 shipping on a $30 clone.

I have about two dozen clones.
They allow me to examine certain design points, and experience them without spending hundreds of dollars.
This can help determine if a certain mod is "right for me".
ID be quote ...... if I waited months and then dropped $250 on a mod that had a terrible switch, or an RBA that functioned like crap.
Example: Origen switch/lock system.
Terrible design. Had tons of hype around it. Switch is a disaster.

Clones have their place.

I'm not dissing on the clones. I got a mix of clones and originals myself. Just thinking that the button and 20x1 threading are the main selling points of the Paps. So, if they don't get those parts right, it's essentially just a random mod with a stolen logo. May still be a good mod, tho :)

Couldn't agree more on the hyped originals. Of course many are great. There are some that certainly don't even come close to their price in actual value, tho. Got one, maybe two that I could well live without. The rest I'm happy about.

I'll never order anything from desire again. These guys are very bad dealers. I bought a kfl+ and a Russian from them and both had problems. Russian had no air flow screw and the kfl+ had a stripped screw hole on the deck. I contacted them they asked for a video and after I sent it they said I had to wait for restocking. Finally near the end of march I wrote them and threatened to open a claim. They then said they sent it out and gave me a tracking number. It sat with no info for days and finally said it left china 4/4/14 then when I checked again it said it left china 12/4/14. Now I emailed them asking what was going on and they give me some excuse about a battery in the package( there wasn't one in my package) and that my package left china 21/4/14 but the tracking doesn't say that, it still reads 12/4/14 left china for overseas country. When I ordered it got here in 2 weeks! Lesson learned and buyer beware. All is not what it seems at desire ecig
