GPlat vs. Hotwires?

which one have a lower resistance?
BTW, is there any comparison chart of their resistance in comparison or Kanthal A1? I kinda wanna know what to expect before I'm getting them.

I could be talking out my booty hole, but I was under the impression that Hotwires were just plain ol' Nichrome with a flashy package.

Gplat, on the other hand, I believe runs a bit lower in resistance than A-1 Kanthal. If memory serves, I think I saw a discussion about this on Reddit, someone claimed its resistance was about half that of Kanthal.

I'm getting ready to try the GPlat myself (the blue pack) after hearing everybody talk about it saying it's easier to build with and has better flavor. We'll see ?

I placed an order with the red and blue 26g, I'll try to compare them to a regular Kanthal (Vapowire) and post my personal impression, I guess in about a week.

From what I read it's a mixture between Nichrome and Kanthal, that's not bad (although still doesn't worth $1.5/ft IMO).

Where are you finding GPlat Red? I've been wanting to try it. I saw a guy building with it at my local B&M. It did drop the resistance on his coils, but I don't know how much.

On their site, the red package is the basic one, blue is Elite and Green I think it's the newest one but only comes at 20 gauge.

Okay I got mixed up. RIP was saying he didn't really notice much of difference ? Not that I'd go off that alone. There's a pretty big difference in price though , right ?

I just got some Gplat to play around with. Got 22, 24,and 26ga. I decided to put the 22ga to use in my Mephisto..did 6 wraps each side for a total of .16 Ohms. Now I don't know if this is a function of the Mephisto or the Gplat, but I am getting AWESOME flavor down here at .16!! The Gplat definitely seems to heat up faster and cool down faster as well....I don't know if it's worth the premium they charge for it, but it seems to be good stuff!

It's kinda funny...when you type in *edit google chrome* "gplat vs" a lot of options come up, kanthal being the first, but no "gplat vs nichrome."

I did find this...I have only read a few comments, but I am impressed so far.. I have a reddit account, but never use it. I think I'll become more involved in our community there. A few comments in, and each one has something to give to the discussion.

I believe eventually the cat will be out of the bag and we'll be buying 100 foot spools of GPlat "unmasked" on Ebay for $6.99.

I bought some of the Gplat blue 24g last week and have tried a few builds with it. I've noticed a little different in the resistance, but the biggest plus for me is how easy it is to work with. VERY flexible and soft, I was able to attempt some parallel & sleeper builds that would have been much trickier with Kanthal. The heat up / cool down is quick too. All that being said, the price is steep. I think I'll use Kanthal for experimenting and most builds and keep a little bit of Gplat on hand for special occasions...I've heard it lasts longer on a build too, I'm interested to see how my coils are holding up in a few weeks.

Gplat won't release the metals they add to the wire its self. Safety is number 1 guys remember.

What? You can do whatever you want. I just find it a little sketchy. Watch Rip trippers cloud chasing 101 part 2 video he kinda talks about it.

You just said it didn't emit metals.. therefore it doesn't release any oxides that act as an insulation in micro/compressed coils.

Just wondering. I don't watch videos..especially with his seizure provoking style of editing..sorry, low blood sugar....I think....or it may just me.
