I also smoked a long time, 30 years, and I vaped at least 18-24mg to start. I started in October and am down to 6mg now but I think G-pa is gonna need a bit stronger nic juice to be successful. I wish him the best of luck! Please keep us posted.

If he is a life long smoker, I am a little concerned that he might not fill the nicotine craving with 8mg juice, of course, if he doesn't
smoke much in a day they it won't be a problem. If he is a life long smoker of 10-20+ a day he might fall off the wagon with 8mg. I'm in the process of dropping my nico levels but I felt like I needed at least 16mg to cover me. Going down to 11 next week, but don't want to pacify vape to make up for the lack of nicotine in me lol

He read on the internet that the average cigarette contains 10 mg on nicotine and he was concerned that 12+ mg of nicotine would be too much. We decided that it would be better to start low and if more is needed to work up from there. I puffed on his setup with the 8mg e juice and felt a definite nicotine buzz, so time will tell. Right now he has the battery on charge.
The measurement of nicotine is mg/ml. One ml is significantly more vapor than one cigarette. If using 10mg liquid, and 1ml= ~20drops, and 1drop= 2-3puffs, then Grandpa's only inhaling ~.025mg of nicotine. While studies have not concluded as to what percentage of nicotine is absorbed and exhaled with each puff, as far as I'm aware, Grandpa most likely would be well suited with ~18mg liquid to start, being that he's been smoking for half a century! The content @ 18mg will not be harmful with a couple puffs and it can be adjusted down if necessary.

Kudos to you for making the switch and promoting a healthier alternative to your Grandpa. I only wish my Grandpa(RIP) was still with us to do the same.
