Cyberdude, I mean this to be helpful: Spend a lot of time in this forum's Health section. Go back many pages and scan the topics. You're smart, and these topics will add to your knowledge. The Health and Law sections are extremely important, more so than which flavor we prefer or how long an atomizer lasts. Read those posts and you'll find lots of information about what we do and what we inhale.

Pillbox, you're doing so much right.. and I like your spirit, but...

We certainly feel e smoking is better for us, the contents of the fluid appear safer by the bucketload. Rather than us proving it is, why not let the detracters prove it isnt.

Clearly, you don't understand government. "They" don't have to prove a thing. "They" ask questions while holding hearings. If "we" don't have answers backed by trials or studies, "they" can ban us in a heartbeat. Ban language is easy to write, and there are plenty, plenty of reasons to find hazards and dangers in what we do. We believe in it; I believe in it and e-smoke every day. But restrain your promotions to provable fact and chances are you won't find yourself personally run out of business before The Big Hearing is finally held and a decision rendered.

In the early days of this forum, it was agreed by most here that e-smoking is an alternative to tobacco cigarette smoking. Nothing more. Go no further with claims. The product will sell. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice Kate & TropicalBob, you inspire me with confidence. Would be good to know more about this subject so I'm going to have a good browse this week and will let you all know what I found at the weekend when I have some time to myself.

Happy vaping crew.:thumb:

This is a funny statement Pillbox - "Rather than us proving it is, why not let the detracters prove it isnt." There's a term for that, I can't remember what it is, something to do with fake logic. It's a marketing ploy. It doesn't make what you say about health any more true.

There is no reason why you can't quote anecdotal evidence and testimonials to sell your products ... you just can't treat it as a medical device. It's a smoking alternative not NRT. Your customers will do your selling for you, you don't have to be a quack. Send your website visitors here and they can inform themselves about the product properly.

The only thing to be worried about is breaking the law of the land or harming people. If you keep everything above board you shouldn't have anything to worry about. There are massive profits to be made in esmoking I think but think of your losses a few years down the line if your customers start to drop down dead and their families sue you on the basis that you promised them they were in safe hands.

I think the term is plausible deniability? Could be wrong though

Testimonials are useless. They long ago became ad writers' fiction.

"This is the greatest invention since white bread!" Ted Smith, Akron, Ohio.
"I'm a new person since I began using a Pillbox e-cigarette." Debbie Williams, San Diego, Calif.
"I'd always failed in the past, but this time I have succeeded." Barrack Obama, Washington, D.C.

Useless. Who is going to prove, or disprove, the statements were made by real people? Forget anecdotes for anything -- proof or advertising.

Actually, I'm working up a series of short TV ads now that I'll just give away after I tape them. I learned advertising techniques in college and was greatly influenced by the old Volkswagen print and TV ads ("Think Small"). For e-cigs, I'd be very, very subtle, trying to create a "buzz" to send a viewer to a Web site.

The tag line on the ones I've been working on is the same always: Janty. You deserve one. (Janty Web address for final five seconds.)

That's it. The ads would not have a voiceover or scrolling text. They would be little humorous sketches showing an e-cig. Then the final punch lines as text.

They should always be light. Always intriguing. Never informative! Never. No claims ever. Show them in use (and NEVER in any public place), don't talk about them. Drive viewers to a carefully done Web site. Smokers will get it. Antis might not be so quick to jump on it.

That sounds spot on, less is more. I'm convinced these things will sell themselves. Just as long as a smoker has it brought to their consciousness they will refer to it sooner or later. Most smokers are looking for a more acceptable way to deal with their addiction and once their attention is drawn to ecigs they will want to know more.

I really like the sound of the way you would approach this TBob, please let us know how we can see your ads when you've finished them. Maybe we could spread them around a bit too if you want that.
