Im a new member so I have to thread here. I had an epiphany, ok fine an idea. dont know if its been done before. I have used the same oil filter on my truck for three years now. when i oil change I keep a small pail with old gasoline and put it in for a few hours. when it comes out clean as a whistle. what if in a small glass u put the atamizer with gas shake a little and wait an hour. When u take it out rinse with hot water then put in a pot of water and boil for a minute. since gas is lighter then water all gas should rise to top. take out with tweezers and rince once more under hot water. voila it should be like new. Please let me know what u think as I havnt been vapin long and dont know if u herd of it or not?

The soak in gas would most likely damage the atomizer.

Also, with the cost of gasoline, isn't it cheaper to just buy another oil filter? :D

For one thing, oil filters and atomizers are not made of the same thing. Your cleaning oil off the filter which is made of either fiberglass or paper and its actually carbon that builds up on a metal coil in an atomizer. I'm not sure gas would take carbon off or not but its much safer to use soda which is acidic and isn't flamable.
Second thing, why would you go through the trouble of keeping an oil filter for three years and cleaning it with gas when you can get a new one for under $5?

Gasoline? Accidents happen all the time. My life is worth more than a gallon of high test. (Come to think if it, my atomizer is cheaper than a gallon of high test.)

Oh, that poor truck! For God's sake buy a new filter before your oil presser drops to the point you damage your main bearings and cam bearings.
Sure you can clean one out but filters are designed to catch microscopic metal particles and lock them in the fiber pores. They will build up after reusing again and again and will restrict oil flow little by little.
Filters are like $4, come on man, it's worth it. Don't you love your truck?

And furthermore, The microscopic particles are embedded into the filter material at 70psi or more, it would take at least that much pressure in the other direction to even loosen any of them. Are you pumping gas back through at this kind of pressure?

As for the atomizer idea, I think you will be tasting gas for a long long time. Hahaha.

slaucy I would suggest just using the hot water soak on your atomizer and letting it dry thoroughly. I would also suggest buying some back up stock on atomizers from one of the china suppliers where you can get 5 for like $30.00. I would also suggest doing the same with oil filters on your next trip to town. Judging by your avatar comment, I'd guess you live way north of me and don't make the arduous trip to town very often. Good luck with your vaping and welcome to the forum.

Sorry Slaucy, my post was never intended to offend in any way and was posted with the best of spirit.

Pissing off now.
Not to mention everything you said is true. I can't imagine a real auto mechanic advising something like that. The oil is the most important part of an engine and $5 for a new filter is a small price to pay to ensure it stays clean. I live within 5 miles of an auto parts store and I still have a case of 12 filters sitting in my garage.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people clean atomizers with vinigar or coca cola and let it dry out. There are youtube vids about cleaning. Best not to use something combustible, just to be safe.

jeez guys give the newbie a break.

It is a valid question and not the worst I have heard for cleaning atomizers.

As for his truck, if you want to slag him off for it, do it via PM and not on an ecig forum.

Welcome newbie.

The best method I have for cleaning atomizers is to wire up and old battery to a 5volt supply and a manual switch. Connect the atomizer and hit the switch for 10 second bursts to burn off any crud. Do this until it stops smoking and let it cool down.

Still on my 1st atomizer in nearly 35 days.
