Hello all. I am not new here, but I am finally here for the first time as a non-smoker! I plan on doing this "right" and never turning back, but I need a little help. I smoked 1-2 packs a day for over 20 years, ranging from Camel Lights, to Reds, and then ending on Newport 100's. I recently asked my Dr. about Chantix because it's completely covered by my insurance now, as it used to cost over $140. I started taking it, while I cut back on analogs. By week 4, I was down to 2-3 drags a day. I started vaping every time I had cravings, I now I am analog free for 16 days. It feels really good.

Back in the 90's, I tried to quit using Nicotrol, before e-cigs came out. For me, it was a complete joke. Horrible flavor, and no vapor or throat hit. Then, like many, I tried to quit with a cigarette-like e-cig, and that, too, was a joke. They only lasted just an hour or two and there were very limited flavors. I tried again when I discovered the ego style e-cig. It answered most of my needs, but leaked every time I used it. Each time I tried e-cigs and I quit smoking, I spent $50-100 to just to get started. I am now using Kanger Mini ProTank II's on a pass-through at my computer, and on EVOD batteries while on the go. But I hate how long my setup is. I don't like have a 6-7" long metal tube in my pocket. I searched and found something more up my alley, the Microstick, Gizmo, or even Kato box. Short and "flat". But they are so expensive, even the clone of the Kato is $70+, just for the shell. Plus the Microstick and Gizmo are never in stock.

So here is my question/problem: I like how the pass-through hits on it's highest setting, 4.2V. But then when I leave the house, I almost feel like I'm vaping the equivalent of an Ultralight analog, if that makes sense. I don't think I'm getting enough out the EVOD batteries. I prefer carrying extra batteries and having a smaller setup than having 1 device that lasts all day. I don't want the weight of the Kato or VTR in my pocket, but I guess more importantly, I need it to hit like my pass-through. Are there any devices I'm missing that would work for me? I do like using tanks, but I just don't know what to connect them to. I'm still a complete noob and learning, but I feel a bit overwhelmed with the amount of options and information out there.

Any thoughts or ideas? I appreciate your input and thank you for your time.

Check out REO, but it is a mechanical and probably over your budget range then you'll need the correct authentic batteries & charger, depending on what you use on top (delivery device) you may need a whole list of other supplies, equipment and knowledge before using.

Thank you, I'll check it out...

What about a Hana Modz mini?
Small - check
Lightweight- - check (although a bit subjective)
Battery should last plenty long + passthrough capable
Cost - I think it is very affordable.
Keep in mind I posted a link to FT, use at your discretion, read the reviews, and be informed. Any issues that I have with the quality of FT product, well I'm not out that much money and since I feel my local B&M's are selling FT product at MFG prices.

At 30W it should hit like a freight train, (not recommending using it at that setting). But with a range of 7-30W you are sure to find your sweet spot. You can use your current tanks, until you are ready to start building

I am on the battery hunt myself. At this point I am leaning towards a Vamo V5. This model along with a couple of others I have seen allow you to remove part of the tube and use the shorter 18350 batteries bringing the overall length down a bit..
I would like more power than the 15 watts it does if for nothing else to get into rebuilding at some point but even that is an improvement over the Spinners I use now. I also don't want something so expensive that I cry like a girl when I drop it.

I have seen this pop up a couple of times, so I will look into it further, thanks! If only I couple fit the tank inside the box...

Thank you for the ideas, I just looked into them. I like the weight and flexibility of the Hana (much better than the Innokin VV boxes), but I really like the reliability of the mechanical devices. I still can't find a mechanical mod, other than the Microstick or Gizmo, that is short enough. I believe the Reo Mini is the closest to what I'm looking for, form-wise. For the money, however, I think I'd stick to the Gizmo where I can still use the tanks I like and they don't protrude as much. I know I can build my own coils, but I'd rather stick to tanks. I think I am just going to have to save my money...

Thanks again everyone.

Think about how much you used to spend on cigarettes in a month? As a 1-2 pack a day, let's say you bought 45 packs (1.5 packs per day) of cigarettes at $5.00 a pack over a month. That would come out to about $225. Does $225.00 seem that outrages for a mod? You were spending that much on cigarettes, just didn't seem as much at $5.00 a day....That's the way I looked at it when I bought a Provari a year ago that gave me the performance I wanted which kept me going back to real cigarettes, that's really what you want....

After that, think about what you need beyond properly regulated power. How long are you out, is replacing the battery important to you? Once you find some choices, research for the problems with each unit. Everyone says a mod is great in the reviews, just make sure there aren't people experiencing problems with things like 510 threading, build quality etc before you dish out the money.

Problem I had with a lot of box mods is the batteries aren't replicable and as a once a 1-2 pack a day smoker, I couldn't be without the unit when the I was out and the battery died on me. I was like you, hated the size of large tube mods, originally with for the Provari Mini with 18350 batteries, it was tiny but the batteries didn't last. Settled on 18490 and it's a happy medium, don't find it as big as I once did......For Box Mods, I came across a Vapershark recently, really nice in the hand and I hear it performs very well too.

You're absolutely right Shoey5. $225 is better spent on a good mod than analogs, any day. Sometimes it takes others to help us take a step back and realize our perspective on things are askew.

I took a look at the Vaporshark and it looks nice, it seems very similar to the Hana. Thanks for the input. Now I just need to find something that is in stock. Everything I like seems to be out of stock and backordered.
