I'm Zod, and me and the GF are new to vaping.

Researched the hell out of it at first and finally decided with how cheap the starter kits are there's no risk involved when we already drop around 80-100 a week on analogs with both of us smoking around a pack a day.

We went with Volcanos and Blus to start with as for both of us it's more a hand>mouth thing than needing that nic fix and that small size is perfect. As with analogs I spend most the time with it clenched in my teeth not even vaping it. This was getting expensive with real smokes having them sit there burning and not smoking it.

I may end up getting one of the big car battery ones to leave in my office but prefer the super mini's portability as I'm mobile from 0600 to 1800 and already have to keep the DroidX's charger handy too.

My biggest concern with vaping is running out of juice. I'm scared to order a couple months worth of juice then discover I despise the flavor as I now feel with all the stuff that came with our Volcanos. If only smoke shops or something like that carried the juices locally then it would be far easier to sample many and decide what you like. (volcano's chocolate tastes like I'm chewing a crayon)

It's really hard to go off of reviews for flavors as obviously flavor is entirely about preference not facts. The only thing I look for in the flavor review is how powerful a flavor is more than if it's "good". :p Hopefully when the Blus show up the flavors will be better as the only thing decent from Volcano was coconut. I've often read Blu has good flavor but the attys aren't as great as Volcano's.

Wish us luck as snow has flown here and I can't go freeze my ... off anymore. Starting now, 1 day off analogs.

Welcome to ECF !!! Yeah !! No more cold, no more rain coming in the car window !

Flavors are a difficult thing. Ya just never know. Start out buying samples to find out which types of flavors you like.. cig type...menthol...fruit type...dessert type... I like things I never thought I would !! Vendors that make juice for you will make a stronger version for you too !

Congratulations to both of you !!!

Several of the more popular vendors have great prices on small bottles ("sample-size" if you will). For example, FSUSA (freedomsmokeusa.com) has 5ml bottles for $4. Great deal, especially for a bottle so small :) And if you want to be REALLY cautious, they have the "sampler" option.. 3ml for $2.25. Start yourself off with 10 different flavors for less than $23. Pick really different flavors.. some fruit, some coffee/chocolate or tobacco, anything you can really imagine.. and then you'll have a better idea of what you like. You could get 20 different 3ml bottles for roughly the cost of a carton!!

Congrats and best of luck!

EDIT: If you opt for the 5ml bottles instead of the 3ml, you can get "extra" or "double extra" flavoring for $0.50 or $1.00. Great deal :)

Welcome to you and you partner to the ECF community. You are correct that running out of juice (or spare hardware) can be a disaster when you begin vaping. You are also correct in assuming that finding juice flavors you like is a difficult task - even with all of the excellent reviews here on ECF. I'm almost 6 months into vaping and I'm still looking for good juices. Their are a lot of excellent suppliers here on the forum. One of them - Gourmet Vapor - is having a 40% off sale that is good until 12/15 - use the code gv40. I would suggest buying several small 5ml bottles ($2.97 ea. during the sale) of flavors that appeal to you and give them all a try.

The best thing you can do is order small bottles of juice from various vendors until you find the ones that really do it for you. Once youve got a few you really really like, then you can step up to the 30ml size bottles. Some great proiced small bottle vendors are:

backwoodsbrew.net
vaporbomb.com
mstsbakery.com

samples sizes are the way to go AND be sure to keep an eye on the Classifieds and swaps forum here at ECF. People are always willing to swap juices and even sell juice they may not have enjoyed but you might find is the best stuff ever.

I was really wary of the classifieds but all my experiences thus far have been positive.

Wow, just scanned through vaporbomb alone and I'm more confused than before. Too many flavors to even pick a handful out for samples. >.< I'm still struggling with the thought of my vapor tasting GOOD compared to the ... taste of tobacco and how much I despised Primetimes and their horrible flavors. I thought for sure I'd loathe coconut and ended up liking it the most unfortunately I have very little of it.

Well, finally couldn't decide on anything premade so I went wild at gourmetvapor and made my own mixes. I figure if Volcano's craptastic coconut was decent GV's should rock.

The code gv40 worked fine for the discount and ended up making me double my order. o_O Thanks, Banjo. You just saved me $30 or so. 60 ml of juices on it's way, all double flavors. Maybe I can grasp all the "girlie" flavors. Tee hee!

Congrats and welcome. Keep in mind that as your taste starts to come back, you will surprise yourself by what you lke and don't like. Be adventurous and try new flavors. I was surprised to find that I liked flavors like rootbeer float. Also, menthol; I never liked menthol wit analogs, but I like it sometimes when I vape. Switching flavors is also good. I find that I like different flavors throughout the day.

I too am in the "trial and error" stage in my juices of choice. To date I have found that vaperite.com offers some VERY tasty ones. They have organic, natural, and the standard eliquids to offer. Last night I purchased a crap load of juices from gourmetvapor.com (the gv40 code for 40% off my ordered helped in my decision to try them). They offer the largest selection that I've seen so far and you can also custom order if you find a combination of juice flavors that you prefer. Hope this helps you a little bit :)

Update: Almost a month and still waiting on the Blu cigs. haha! (should have seen that one coming huh?)
Hadn't seen any slow shipping complaints about them that were less than 6 months old so I figured they'd ironed out the kinks. Seems I was wrong.

The bigger problem is I'm already concerned about the vapor production of the Volcano. It seems as vapor is quickly diminishing as the attys get used. I expected this to happen but within the first week? I don't know if I'm burning them cause the carts are so friggin small to start with when they're full or if it's normal to need cleaning that quickly. It doesn't help that you only feel that it's doing anything unless it's a spankin new cart with <10 pulls on it so I've burned through all my carts really fast and now waiting on my juice shipment. I go through about 5 carts a day but with how small they are compared to a 510 I'm assuming 3 of them is about equivalent to a single 510 cart.

With trying hard to NOT grab a pack of analogs (doesn't help that I have 9 packs still in the carton right here) I'm getting impatient and ordered 2 Yeti kits as too many here swear by the 510. If only I'd seen ECF before putting in that first order to Blu. Oh well, at least if/when they ever show (they already took the $$ from my account a week ago) I'll probably ebay them for $30-40 each as I have little hope in them being any better than the Volcano.

Too long didn't read: You were all right, I'm an idiot. Ordered 510s.

I don't think there are many here who found the "perfect" device first time out, so no worries.
I went through two attempts myself before I quit screwing around and got something that would let a chain smoker switch to chain vaping....

As for diminishing vapor: attys may put out less as they get older and batteries put out less juice as they drain. And the more you recharge them, the less power they hold. One trick that helps some people is to let them charge long after the "charged light" comes on.

Hopefully you won't have to smoke, but if you do have to backslide a bit, well, its still better than smoking full time, right?
(Plus they will probably not taste too good.)

Oh Em Gee. Altsmoke got my 510s here in 2 days..... wow.....just....wow.. and that's not just shipping, that's from "submit order" being pressed to me opening the box. I ordered them monday morning!

Also my juice showed up today from Gourmetvapor.com that I ordered saturday and the chocolate raspberry I made is friggin awesome. Even makes my volcanos vape way better. All the flavors taste as they should without that pg saccharin type sweetness. I'll do a quick rundown of the flavors later in the juice forum once I try them all.

Zod is a happy camper!:vapor:
