Hello everyone!
I've been vaping since 2009, and have finally quit cigarettes. I now detest cigarettes, even the smell and taste of them. I had one cigarette with a friend about a month and a half ago, and I wanted to clean my tongue with a cheese grater. It was one of my favorites, too, American Spirit Periques. I used to love those things, but now they taste like Cow Manure.
My body still wants nicotene. I'm still addicted. But I'm not likely to fall back on cigs ever again.
I used the forums here, as a lurker, to keep up with e-cigs, so I want to thank everyone who posted information here, from the DIY-ers to the reviewers, because that information is what helped me quit, and helped me stay quit.
All that being said, I would like to start giving back to this community.
What I have to offer isn't tips or tricks on e-cigs. My knowlege base isn't electronics or chemistry, though I've done well with IT work in the past, but that was just helpdesk stuff. I prefer working with software to working with hardware. So if there's ever an e-cig that connects to a home network, I might be able to offer some input.
I don't know /why/ someone would want a network-connected e-cig, but there you go.
No, my knowlege is strictly political.
I'm a political operative. I know how to get people elected, and I know how to run campaigns. I know how legislation happens, and I have a rolodex of contacts in Washington. Rather than having to fly in to talk to representatives,
I have access to various technologies, and can help us defend our ability to vape.
While the current logjam in congress has prevented anything at all from getting through, the time is coming when regular business will crop up again.
The bill from 2009 isn't dead, it's just on a backburner.
I've gotten candidates elected. I've unseated popular incumbents.
To get started in that direction, I have a few questions:
1) Where do the highest concentration of e-cigarette users live?
If we can answer that question, we can connect with a local representative and get access to voter rolls.
2) Do we have a good mix of people from BOTH political parties?
Making this a nonpartisan issue that goes beyond the current back-and-forth is vital.
3) Does anyone else here have political experience on any level?
The more people we have, the better.
4) What are the current advocacy organizations to defend E-Cigs, and what kind of a relationship do they have with this community?
4.b What countries are these organizations in?
As an American operative, I can help campaigns around the world. I may not know all of the legal ins and outs, but I know how to use campaign tools and technologies that will be completely legal in any country, and I can help push things in the right direction.
Let me know.
Also: ask me anything about politics, BUT KEEP IT POLITE.
I'm happy to talk to ANYONE who disagrees with me. And I will never resort to namecalling or anything like that.
But if we're going to work together as a community, we can't let ourselves get ripped apart over what side we like to butter or toast.
Edit: More about me, and vaping.
I'm a menthol fiend. I vaped Pure Smoker's Menthol E-Juice, and was devastated when they went out of business. I'm now using stuff made by Ejuicemonkeys. Their Ice Menthol seems like a good replacement for the stuff I used to use, just pure, intense menthol. The PG/VG blend is nice.
I'm using the 1100 MA Ego Battery, and one of my old 650 MA ego batteries. It's been kicking since 2009, and even though it doesn't lock and the black coating has completely worn off, I'm very happy with it.
