Hi folks, new arrival here to ECF! Been lurking and learning for a while and would like to thank everyone who participates here for the absolute smorgasbord of knowledge made available!

Been on analogs for around 20 years, and as a typical first adopter of tech, I jumped onto the e-cig bandwagon as soon as I could around '08 - but - constant disappointment with my equipment, and the initial difficulty in obtaining decent, quality devices with some level of longevity always had me back on the analogs within a few weeks.

Been vaping again fulltime for the last month - no return to my stinky previous self as of yet. Got an RX200 landing today and cannot wait to become extremely well acquainted with my new little friend....now to find enough juice here on our little island....

Pondering the possibility of something waterproof ... Work on the water all day...

Vape on and thanks for the hospitality!

Greetings and welcome! Congrats on the RX!

Seems like I saw something about a waterproof mod not long ago. I'll dig around and see if I can find it again. If I can, I'll post a link for you.

Be advised, a waterproof tank/atomizer doesn't exist to the best of my knowledge. The need for air inlets also means water can get in.

Something else to think about, is running in and out of air conditioning in that beautiful Belize weather. This will cause the air pressure in a tank to change, and will result in flooding/leaking or dry hits. Normally, it would take 5 or 10 mins for this to happen, so just a quick in and out shouldn't be an issue. If this starts happening, just a quick opening of the fill cap should equalize the pressure.

I've been eyeing that Invader Mini for a few days now, and it sure seems like the right tool for the job. Not much on ECF about it though, and I battle to find much newer info than fall 2015 so I wasn't sure if its cracked up to be all its hyped to be? But it does look pretty solid and like it can take a beating.

I'm not planning on graduating to sub-aquatic vaping yet, so I'm more concerned about brief rain showers, spray off the boat etc. Seems that's exactly the level of protection offered by the Invader.

Great points on the differences in AC vs outdoor environments. I see it clearly with my current setups and never put the two together.

The HV Inv Mini has done all I have asked it to do. Kayfun V4 with Ni200 wire for temp to lately my Cubis (.5 coil @ 25 watts) has been riding it and they look good together! I have even ran my Velocity, Darkhorse, and Hobo Mini drippers in all sorts of configs, did them well. I will say the only gripe I have is that it will shut itself off I beleive after 20 minutes and you have to 5 click it back on, sometimes it defaults to 10 watts and you have to reset it, other than that I really like it. Then again I think all mods have the little idiosyncrasies.

The only thing holding me back somewhat is what I perceive (from the reviews) that it's somewhat lacking in battery life? Have you found it satisfactory? Our charters are normally around 8 hours and I guess I have 10 or so hits an hour...just like with my analogs. Will it make a day running at around 10-15w? I don't plan to sub-ohm on the water, just run a little 1.5 ohm coil on it as my daily fix.

As long as you're using a good battery (VTC5, Samsung 25r, etc) that was fully charged and allowed to "rest" for at least a couple of hours after charging (meaning off the charger), you'll get 12-14 hours at your stated vape rate. That's what I got at the same parameters.

Welcome @FlyBwai
I have similar issues to you with weather, lifestyle and availability of juice and gear I should imagine.
Mostly when on the water I use a waterproof bag, you know the type that rolls down and locks with a toggle, and thus I don't really require a waterproof mod as such.
Getting good juices lead me to diy and lack of choice meant ordering and shipping from the USA for the most part.

Our fine customs folk absolutely hammer anything e-cig related with duty so I gave up on that route. Luckily we have regular clients from the US so I can always have something shipped to my next guests, but juice - not so much. Going to have to get one decent purchase of DIY stock and start mixing my own for at least three months worth of stock on hand - especially during hurricane season. The local B+Ms here stock very very basic levels of expensive (30ml @ $30) pre made stock...so DIY is the only way to go.

I currently keep my rig in the same wet bag as my phone, but it's cumbersome to reach when I just want a few hits, so having something in my pocket that can take a few splashes will be first prize.

Kayfun V4 with 1.3 ohm Kanthal I get all day into the evening at 15 watts with a good 2500ma batt. With a .3 dripper I need 3 batts a day at 40 watts. You should be fine. Sweet Vapes USA had them at reasonable price. I have had mine almost a year and still use it, even though I have a Presa and RX200, I still use it for the situations I need it for.

You can also rinse it off when you rinse the boat off if around saltwater. I would recommend that.
