Hey Guys,

signing in from Europe right now.. specifically in Rome where wifey and I will be staying for a couple more days. Then off to Florence, then Pisa, and finally to cap it off Paris!

was worried about going through the Airport when leaving T-dot, but all went well. Been vaping like a mad man cuz I'm constantly outside... at least 12+ hours each day so far... keeping a bottle in my juice is bad news, it's about 25-30 degrees here in Rome, but whatever, weather is great!

Have fun at the meet, wish I could go, but I tihnk I'll take a Euro-Trip instead this time :p

ya, that's what I meant.. keeping a 6ml bottle in my pocket doesn't bode well in this heat, especially if you're outside for 12plus hours ahhh well we have a fridge in our room so I can keep the rest in there until I'm ready to use them!!

too bad about the meet BA :(

Switched/Burn... hope you guys are alright along with your friends and family... cleaning up is never fun, but as long as you guys are ok.

Heading to Florence today, see you guys in a bit!

well I came back from my 2 week vacation in Europe this past weekend and had a blast... with respects to vaping, it really "passed the test" for me.

Previously, being in foreign countries I would try their brands of cigarettes until I found one I liked and usually enjoyed the whole experience.. well it wasn't an issue this time around, and I thought it would be difficult to lay off the analogs being that there are cafe's/restaurants/patios everywhere with chain smokers all around. I didn't have the urge once, and really enjoyed vaping amongts the smokers. It helped that I brought 12+ flavours so I could easily rotate and not get bored, but I'm very happy that even smoking an analog didn't cross my mind.

For those that have been to Europe (specifically Rome, Florence, Pisa, or Paris) you definitely see a different "culture" there with smoking. It's definitely more socially acceptable, and really made the whole city smell like cigarettes. Either way, still enjoyed the trip, and glad it was analog free!

thanks guys... I was a bit paranoid going cuz I've heard the horror stories in terms of theives and what not, but we didn't experience any of that stuff...

As far as airport goes, I just followed basilray's video of what to do in terms of bringing over the equipment. The video link doesn't seem to work at the moment, but it's pretty strait forward.

4 ziplock bags total (no greater than 1qt)

Bag 1) Attys, carts, carto's, drip tips etc...
Bag 2) Batteries, chargers
Bag 3) Juice... I personally brought smaller bottles like 6ml-10ml

These 3 bags are carry on, and the actually PV is dissambled. When going through the x-ray machines, put the juice bag out in the bin so they can see it. I also had a bottle of purrell in that bag too.

Bag 4) Optional , but another bag of juice put in your checked luggage

I didn't get stopped or had an issues, although I did get the full Pat Down at the Toronto Airport going to Rome (could've been a random check).

I did NOT vape inside the plane, although I was tempted to, nor did I vape inside the airport. The Paris airport was nice because they had a smoking section after the security check's by the boarding gates, so I did so freely there. I'll add that if questioned at security, just be totally up front and tell them what it is. There's more info I think in the travel section threads, but it's not ILLEGAL to have carry one and they can't take it away from you. I was very apprehensive before the leaving, but feel much more comfortable now if I were to do it all over again.

I should also mention that I brough my eGo with spare batteries... don't have a mod yet, but there are some mod's that may raise eyebrow's more than others. I don't think the eGo looks as "threatening" as others, and that may have helped as well.

My drive back into Canada at the border was piece of cake.... I just made sure I knew exactly what I was claiming and let them know I had receipts ready if needed. I was clear and direct so they didn't feel the need to hassle me... was a 2-3 minute chat, if that.

Vaped all through my trip and as well indoors at a few bars that seemed totally fine with it. Didn't know what it was but were satisfied with my explanation lol

Welcome back, Fit, glad you had a good trip! Thanks for your packing tips, I'll be looking up basilray's material too for sure. I've been poking around the Travel forum and there is a ton of good info!

My turn next month, I'll be in Dubai/Abu Dhabi for a while for work. I posted a request for info on the Travel forum to see if anyone's been there lately. I found on Google that the authorities there hate e-cigs based on the attitude of the US FDA. Hopefully someone will be able to give me a vaper's-eye view of the place.

During the original Gulf War 1991, I spent allot of time in Dubai. A nice place to visit, but definitely "Muslim". The only thing they like about foreigners is their money in all honesty. After the war was over, they couldn't wait for us to go home and were quite vocal about it. Arabs do not like foreigners on their land.

I do not know about their view on e-cigs, they smoke, but frown on alcohol. Very funny people. Public intoxication is not tolerated, or appearance thereof, they will turn you in (religious belief). So do be careful...

Very true, Switched, it is definitely a Muslim place. Right now in the Emirates they are eager to do business with the rest of the world so they tolerate us a little better, especially those who have skills they need. My company has had people stationed there for several years. They do have rules and these are not flexible, but they are clearly defined so no surprises.

The industry I work in is largely conservative, so I've learned to blend in with the locals and tread warily. I don't drink much - no tolerance - so I only have a drink if I'm within stumbling distance of my bed and there are no roads or sidewalks involved in getting there! And on the road I never go out alone after dark. I have had to do some work on the wardrobe - no knees, no sleeveless or low necklines. But it's not that restrictive - no headgear required unless you visit some traditional sites or mosques.

I'm looking forward to the differences; it's part of the reason I put up with airports customs and immigration and being away from family and friends. But you are absolutely right, I need to be careful and I will.

On the bright side, I heard from RIA (airline employee) on the Travel forum that vaping at least in airports and hotels has been ok for him.

Thanks,

Karen
