Hello everyone, thought I'd check in officially as I've been hovering around in the shadows here for a month or so since quitting smoking (after 15yrs ish on analogs). I got some entry-level vape gear to try as a nic-replacement having had numerous failures with patches/gum etc. in the past.
I'm from the northern wilds in the UK and I don't know anyone socially who's into vaping so I'm very much feeling my way blind here. I hope I don't make any horrific faux-pas.
I started out a month ago with an Apollo Endeavor starter kit with two EVOD style pens which I found were great as both a chemical and psychological replacement during the critical first few days/weeks of kicking the analogs. Really enjoyed the process of filling, trying new flavours etc. They helped me over the hurdle I usually fall at when quitting - the first drunken night out after stopping smoking. I have sketchy willpower at the best of times, and when I'm half cut it's non-existent. But with the pen in my pocket I managed to get through without cracking, despite my mates having a good old laugh at me emitting clouds of mango vapour while they choked down their Lambert and Butlers.
After a few weeks using the EVODs and watching/reading a fair bit of vaping media I started to feel like I wanted something a bit more special for my home vaping. Something a bit chunkier and posher to grind while watching TV and relaxing. The EVODs are perfect when out and about, but I basically wanted a lightsabre for home. I liked the quality and service I got from Apollo so I went ahead and ordered the V-tube 3.0 (I'll get slated for this probs - I know they aren't the cheapest for what they are, but stick with what you know right?).
So here's my gear now:

Got the V-tube this morning with a couple protank 3s. I'm a bit concerned though because I tested it with some RY4 which I've never tried. To me it's tasting a bit gnarly (sort of almost burny and sickly, despite being careful with my voltage). I've read that RY4 polarizes people into a love/hate divide, but I wish I'd tested my tube on something I was familiar with so I didn't feel like it was the device making the weird taste. I also think maybe the steel mouthpiece takes some getting used to after a month of plastic.
Having said that though, it's growing on me as the night wears on (and the wine depletes).
Anyway, I've rambled on for ages, nice to be here and hope to speak to some of you soon.
Hutch
