Hi everyone! I have been lurking for the past couple of days and reading about e-cigs here. I, like everyone else am a little overwhelmed with all the info. I have'nt been this exited about possibly quitting cigarettes in years. I want to order a starter kit and have read some info here. Am I able to see or try/buy these locally at a mall or store somewhere? Any direction is welcome.
About me. 46 and have smoked for 30 years now, 1.5 packs a day of Merit Ultra Lights. I hear that they are Phillip Moris' most expensive cig. I am hopeful this will work. BTW, how do these things go with a beer or cocktail?:p

All the info I am sharing here is just from what I've gathered in my "lurkings"
You can buy e-cigs in some malls, but beware of those brands, many times they are rip offs. I would play it safe and see if your mall has a vendor, ask them questions about the model, then research it here. I have seen beer flavored cartomizers for sale, I don't know how well it would taste in comparison though.

My advice to you is...Don't buy an ecig locally!

Not without doing your research first. I suggest getting a Joye 510 model ecig or an SLB 901 model ecig.

The 510 gives more throat hit and the 901 gives more flavor. All in all they are both good ecigs.

Check out https://strictlyejuice.com/index.php?main_page=specials for the kits and juice as well.

If you find an ecig for sell locally...it will probably be overpriced.

The "try it before buying" is pretty much limited to what is available in your area, and I wouldn't get my hopes up too much.

I'd check out the social groups for one in Virginia and see if there is any members willing to meet up with you.

If not, you're in the position most of us are in, "Hope like hell you make a good first decision."

Actually you're in a better position because of this forum and the people willing to give advice.

I use the RN4081 which is a Njoy product. As far as I'm concerned the atty is the greatest, but there has been some (including me) that had trouble with the batteries which is why I now use mods.

If I knew what I knew today, I'd order some adopters, carts, and attys, and just start out modding.
Or, if I wanted to buy a kit, I'd probably start out with the Ego.

Consider me your recycling center for Njoy Pro, Smoking Everywhere Gold, Cloud 9, Smoke 51 Trio, and DSE103 useless batteries.
Other hardware if it’s still usable.
Those I loan out to/give to thank you.

Casper +1 on the don't buy from a mall vendor or gas station. Many people are going to tell you to start out with a 510 but I see that you smoke ultra light cigs. A 510 might be too harsh for you. I suggest to start out with something cheap like a simple dse 801 kit. The 801 atomizer is a lighter vape then the 510 and if you want to experiment you can get a 801 to 510 or 901 adaptor. Take a look at this kit Model DSE 801 E-C Series Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit

Friendly ghost, check out this thread first http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...st-electronic-cigarette-first-time-vaper.html and then order something from one of the ECF registered suppliers. That's the best way to avoid getting ripped off. There are good suppliers that aren't registered here (just ordered from one) but the ones listed on this forum are all legit. I got screwed my first time out. It's pretty disappointing.

+1 with what mist said. My first e-cig was a big disappointment, then I started on the forum and got some good tips.

Thanks everyone for helping in my first attempt. The more I read the more it looks like a choice between the 510 and an ego..
What started this process for me was a bouncer in a nightclub I play in, was smoking an e cig called a blue tech??(sp). I am talking about a SMOKY nightclub too, folks. He gave up a 2-pack a day habit and hasn't looked back. There IS hope for me. Thanks so much everyone, will report soon!

The eGo is the better choice by far. The battery charge will hold 4 times longer. That's a big deal. Back when I was using regular batteries I had 2 chargers going with 4 batteries rotating through them all the time. Charging batteries was like a job! I hated it. I have a Riva (same thing as eGo) and that battery holds a charge for 6 to 8 hours.
