First i would just like to say hello .............

I am new here, i have been led to this forum after being introduced to vaping, being concerned about this new craze and scouring the net for information i am asking for help to some information. As there is so much information on here i am asking for some links to certain queries.

< diacetyl, acetyl propionyl and acetoin......................Butyric Acid..................diketones............

OK I understand there BAD.................i am not a chemist so i want to keep this simple.

I intend to go down the diy root, as after being introduced to vaping 3 weeks ago custard was my flavour. Then after doing some research i came across these chemicals.
 you can imagine my surprise. ( I don't trust any vendor at the moment i only have a couple of shops close by and all they say is its much better than smoking...... blah blah"

So can some kind member link me to a list ( I am in the UK so FA are a good choice ) YES i even know some Abbreviations :D.......
of flavour concentrates that are good to go.

Also I have read posts concerning PG................is there any thing i should be worried about with PG .........or VG....... come to that, links would be good.

I think that's it for now i am sure i will have a few more questions.

Thanks to any one who may be able to help.......

I am no expert by any means as I just began to attempt DIY for the first time this week. It would seem as though the chemicals that concern you are part of the artificial flavor. If you want to avoid them you can stick to natural flavors such as fruit extracts. I would also include that vaping has been around for years and is just now becoming main stream. It is by no means new.

Your going from cigaretts to vaping ?
Even your exhalation has a lot of trace chemicals in it .
    Are e-cigarettes 100% safe ? I don't think so but that's just me .
Is vaping better then smoking . Big time yes !
I'm down to 3mg/ml and I will quit some time , I started at 36mg pr ml .
As you sit in your car at the light think on what your breathing that's coming out of the tail pipe of the car in front of you?
    Best wishes

I've noticed that there are a few options of flavor concentrates for DIY juice that are made without the "custard" ingredient chemicals that have people concerned. With all the awareness and lack of info on the long term effect of some of these chemicals I bet more options will start to appear as well. And there is the all natural flavors.

Hi and welcome! I'm by no means an "expert" and I might not know too much about the flavor compounds. There have been a lot of people who have a sensitivity or an intolerance to PG ranging from dry mouth to red sores on the skin. If that happens, switch to a heavier VG mix. With the other stuff, make sure your wick doesn't dry out and burn. Keep your coils wet and swap wicks often. Wet coils will prevent overheating which is not good to vape. Any singe marks on the wick constitutes a new wick (cotton) for me. Hope this helps!

I rolled my own, given up a few times , 3 months was the longest but keep having that one ... again,, and ending back up in the same place...............

I appreciate your reply Harlen, but im not sucking on the exhaust pipe !!!

I personally need to no more before i just puff on any old juice .............:)

I understand being concerned about diketones but what I don't understand is why people weren't concerned with them when the were smoking cigarettes which contain higher level than any ejuice. I have read some articles questioning the whole "diacetyl causes popcorn lung" theory because cigarette smokers don't get it. I have yet to hear an answer for that.
