This might be so stupid but I was wondering...with the PG and VG...are these things "vaproized" completely when I inhale them? I keep thinking that I am injesting some gel looking stuff into my lungs. I know it vaporizes but does what I inhale "harden" again once it is cooled?

I may not have asked this right but I hope someone gets what I am saying.

I know I may be being overly paranoid. It seems I would have been even more concerned about all the chemicals in cigarettes. Now I guess I am getting scared in general. Should I be inhaling food flavorings into my lungs? Can you just vape water or something?

This is my paranoia asking questions but someone help me. I have been scouring the medical forum and reading about certain issues and now I am paranoid.

Oh you're definitely getting lungfulls of pg and vg...but compared to what you were getting off of analogues the point is rather moot.

There's a medical section of the forums with a lot of great info on it if you're really concerned about it, however both chemicals are classed by health canada and the fda as GRAS (generally recognized as safe). PG is used in humidors and I think as a binding agent in pharmaceuticals (don't quote me please not a pharmacist) and VG is used for coloring icing sugar.

It's not a silly question as a lot of people ask the same thing. It comes up every month or so on the New Members Forum. You can probably find other threads that answer your questions if you do a search for them. Basically when the atomizer heats up the PG and/or VG it turns them into water, carbon dioxide, and carbon. The flavorings are another matter as there's really too many of them with lots of different things in them so it's hard to say. But they're a smaller portion of your juice at between 5% and 20%, and they're usually PG or alcohol based to begin with. The actual flavor itself is a small percentage of the flavoring. There is some concern about diacetyl in some flavorings, but it seems to be that only a few have it and some flavoring manufacturers are removing it from their products. If you're interested in finding out more about it do a search for diacetyl and you'll find lots of threads with lots of controversy.

Thank you both so much for taking the time to answer the question. I was really concerned and scoured so many threads and got more paranoid. :)

I get my juice from Purevapes and he is very particular about providing quality ingredients and I am so thankful for that. I think that is the only place I will order from. Before I was just ordering from anyone until I paused for a minute and thought hold on, what the heck are you inhaling?!

pg and vg are used, or have been used in many pharmacetical delivery devices.. it helps to 'bind' the agents, so that they are delivered into your lungs. They are also used in fog machines and other such contraptions that have been deemed as 'safe'. (cant remember which is which ATM.. been a while)

As for the flavorings.. those are used in ingredients that we eat. Now, the way I look at it..is it safe to 'inhale'?.. I dunno. Is it safer to inhale than cigarette smoke?... well I'm guessing that's probably a yes.
So, since it's safe to 'ingest'; that only leaves the matter of: whether or not it's ok in my lungs as opposed to my stomach. Yes they both lead into my system, but the stomach was the original intended route. I don't know the answer to that question... however.. it's going to rate way higher than say.. arsenic (which is in cigs) ..

so I'm going to pick the lessor of the 2 evils.
