Growing Frustrated With Phoenix Cartos

I bought 5 bottom and 5 top coil phoenix cartos to give them a try. The first bottom coil worked for all of two minutes before springing a leak at the bottom and dumping its contents on top of and then down the side of my battery. I filled it upside down like all of the videos said to do. I shrugged it off, blaming myself because I didn't get all the air out of the syringe before filling the carto.

The next two, one top and one bottom, they both filled fine. The problems began when I tried to refill/top them off. There seems to be two fill holes in the seal. When I push juice in one, juice simply pours out the other hole.

Am I not supposed to be refilling these upside down? Should I just vape them until they are empty, clean them out and then try to refill them?

I was really excited about these after watching all sorts of rave reviews about them all over youtube but so far it's just been a big, messy, juice wasting mess.

Every time I have had a problem it has been leaking out the bottom. Never an issue with it leaking out the top unless I am trying to refill.

Thanks,
Ryan

Got Vapes Phoenix CE3's should be vaped until finished, flushed then filled again. That having been said I have filled them several times with the same liquid with no need to clean in between.

If you are going to top off you need to do it very slowly and even then juice can run out. I just fill a couple, vape them till almost completely out, so I don't top off really. I only puncture one of the two holes on top, not both when filling.

I only get the bottom coil version of these....

Yes, topping them off before they are low will lead to it pouring out the center post. These puppies work off of a vacuum, so it's best to vape them until empty. If they're fairly full and you simply try to top it off, you're going to push the juice out. It has to go somewhere, and that center post is the only place for it to go. If you really really wanna wanna, then first you need to pull out what's already in it with your syringe so that it's pretty much empty before plunging more in. And for the record, yes you are supposed to fill them upside down.

I also refill without cleaning, but also vape empty first instead of topping off. That is about the only thing I don't like about the Phoenix BCs. It's a bit of a PITA when you are leaving the house.

One more thing that may help... I had trouble only a few times with juice pouring out. Then I noticed that after I filled it, I was flipping it back upright before removing the syringe. I started making sure I kept it upside down to remove the syringe, and I haven't had another dump <knocks on wood>. May be completely unrelated to the problems I had, but it seems to be working, so I keep doing it.

BTW, how did you like the top coils? I wan't crazy about them myself. They seem to be a bit too finiky about the snugness of the seal, and I never could keep them from getting gurgly. I used them, they just aren't at the top of my reorder list. :p

Note to self: read twice then respond...

OK, when you say two holes, I assume you are talking about the top coils. They do not have to be and should not be filled upside down. Only the bottom coils have to be done that way. And the bottom coils shouldn't have 2 holes.

If I want to top off a bottom coil first I suck the contents out, add liquid and top off completely (not too much, leave a small air bubble inside). They leak a tiny bit through the bottom, and you'll get some condensation on top.

The Nano bottom coil is completely different. I haven't tried it, but they're filled without a syringe, normally.

Tidegirl - Both the top and bottom coils I have have two fill holes directly across from each other.

As far as the top coil goes the verdict is still out. They are pretty gurglely. I was using one last night and it was constantly gurgling and I got a few nasty dry hits.

I'll mess with them again when I have more time and a roll of paper towels handy.

Yea you guys were right, the top coil has two holes, bottom only has one. Was looking at the wrong one. Vaping a top coil right now. It's working ok. Great vapor, and taking a little "prime hit" without hitting the battery buttom before every real hit takes away the gurgle. Still pops a bit though.

Honestly the EGO clearomizers that came with my kit have been working the best.

Alright, little update. I have been using both top and bottom coils for a couple days.

Honestly now that I have had more use with them my only complaint is the gurgle, I've noticed that if I start taking a pull for about a second before hitting the battery button it helps the gurgle.

For as cheap as they are I can deal with the gurgle and syringe filling, but I don't think they are as great as the reviews said. I will probably buy the bottom coil again.
