Yay!!!

Ok guys. I thought I felt better yesterday, but by mid afternoon was slammed by some intense Vertigo and nausea. It's gone today, but I don't want it to come back. So I'm going to take the rest of the week easy. This is insanely hard for me, as I'm a work-a-holic, but my body is just screaming in protest.

And to those that wondered. I will not be selling these! I don't want a vendor account, because then I can't be a part of this group. So when I have bottles I'll post them in the 'swap n shop' thread or something similar for trades only!

I hope to have at least 2 by Monday afternoon. Sorry this is taking so long. I'm just a sick puppy.

Thanks. Not to mention, it's insanely muggy outside. And since my glass studio is my garage here in Houston, Tx., it's hot. Especially with an open oxy/propane flame and a 1,000* kiln sitting off to my left, it gets HOT. And quickly.

Here's an idea of the flame I work with. This pic also gives a preview of my style work. This wasn't a bottle, but I'm going to use the same techniques to art 'em up.

For the curious: Borosilicate starts moving at around 1250*f. It's working temp is closer to the 2750*f mark. The flame is around 5,000* in the hottest part, depending on size, of course. One of the main reasons I'm staying out of the shop is that if I pass out and fall forward, there goes my face.

holey smokes! I used to build stained glass for churches and I though solder was hot enough to play with, what you are doing, now thats hot!

Yeah, it gets pretty hot. I'll sweat when working even in the winter. It doesn't get too cold in Houston. Maybe high 40's low 50's during the day, mid winter, but the shop stays at a nice 80*ish. Now in the summer, when it's high 90s outside, the shop gets up to 110+. Not to mention humidity. I shut down from May until late October.

Dude, take your time. I know we sound impatient (we're just excited :)), but all good things come to those that wait ;)

Oh, I am. I know you guys are excited, and believe me, I am too.

I'm just antsy to feel better (so close) and get back to work. Orders don't stop coming in when you're sick. And soon it'll be time to shut the shop down for the summer. And when I shut the shop down, there will be no production of anything. Not even juice bottles, as I don't keep a tank of oxygen; no point, the liquid would just boil off and vent.

So I just really need to finish my orders and really want to get at least a few bottles made. I'm curious as to see what kinda' stuff you guys offer for trade. I could use some t-tips and I love freedom and smooth 8. ;)

I hear ya :) Same thing that put me off. I couldn't handle the thought of not being a part of my new found "family" ;)

To those doubting glass art, a skilled lampworker/glass blower can, literally, make anything with glass. :p

I was feeling better lastnight and I've been itching to get in the shop. So I made a bottle. This specific bottle is going to Jules. I only think it's fair, as she invited me here and without her, I'd be 'internet homeless'.

In this bottle I applied all the color on the inside. A technique called 'inside out'. I used a flat cane of greenish blue dichroic backed with a dark cobalt for nice contrast. I also used 'stringers', 7-8mm diameter colored rods pulled thin, to ~1-2mm dia. and drawn in. There are also some dots inside. Also, to back everything I used frit, or crushed glass. The color of this frit is called Dwarf Green and is really a nice color. The frit gives a neat looking texture, too.

It's approximately 30ml. There's a pic of a Halo bottle next to it for size reference.

I'll let the pics do the talkin'

Smooth Groove (that's not a crack at the end of the stringer. It folded over on itself while I was laying the lines.

Last, but certainly not least. Jules, you'll be able to find your bottle in the dark. Just charge it up in sunlight. It works best, I've found.

I'll make another today and have it for trade tomorrow. Jules, if I can make it to the PO today I will. If not It'll go out Monday, which is probably more likely.

Let me know what you guys think!

STUNNING! Absolutely STUNNING!

Love, love, love the dots. Especially the glow in the dark ones... how cool is that??! (question: can you swirl the glow stuff throughout the bottle too? Or is it a material only works on the outer surface? I am totally clueless about glasswork.)

The dark blue in the stopper is gorgeous. I am partial to the deeper colors.

Suggestion :) Your honeycomb work is my personal fav... have you thought about incorporating it? Perhaps in the dropper somehow?

I am amazed at how quickly you created this. Very fine work. Keep it up (please) :)
