2 satin minis, a standard satin and some desperately need batteries !

Sheesh - I haven't bought batteries in over 2 years !
I'm finding a bunch of mine are loosing voltage sitting in rotation, I need to get rid of a bunch and put some new ones in the lineup. Time to break out the P3 and start doing the old IQ check on them.

Kongrats! The satins are klassical, and I'm happy for you!

I was sailing in that same boat, classie. I took advantage of RTD's sale awhile back and bought up some replacement 18490s. It had been while for me, too!

E-D, that's one feature of which I'm a bit jelly. We've got nothing that will indicate the ol' IQ of our batts. I believe @JUMA55 got some sort of charger that actually takes the cells, charges them up, then drains them, recharges them and reports their capacity. Pretty koolio, if ya ask me.

So we have to do it the old fashioned way. By feel.

I've got a couple smart chargers that I can run charge discharge cycles on my cells, and they do tell the capacity of each cycle. these chargers need a cradle for the batteries because they are for lipo packs.

I stopped doing this as my number of batteries grew and had already realized that the best indicator of their aging was voltage loss while sitting for a few days to a week. As they age the internal resistance grows and they begin to self discharge while resting at a faster and faster rate over time. So when I grab a cell and it tests at 3.9-4 volts I know they are getting on towards retirement time :) They still work, but the usable energy is greatly diminished from what a new cell will have.

A lot of the cells in my current use pile came to me second hand, so it's been a good ride :) When I put some new ones into the rotation I plan on replenishing my back stock which I test upon receiving and just pack away at their resting charge.

Another benefit to a smart charger is they often do have a resting charge cycle, which will bring a cell to it's optimal charge rate for storage.

I try to keep my running 350's to just Eight. That way they don't sit dormant for too long.

My current set is still reading OK for IQ.

I have a new set of Eight ready to go, whenever they drop below that.

What I need to do is go through my 490's and 650's. I use them so rarely; it can't be good for them.

Yeah, it's better to let them sit at 3.7-3.8 volts for extended periods of non use. I just set my P3 up for 18650 mode to go through my rotation of those cells. Its going to take me a week or so to cull out the weak ones. 18490's will be next, then the 18350's. I might need to put another P3 in the rotation to get through all of my cells. It's been quite a while since I culled old batteries and replenished my rotation.

Absolutely NOT.

Yeah, I tried. They're karpy made too - NOTHING like the Bayside ones. Not worth it (IMO).

I do NOT like gang banger caps, and I can'not lie. I may try the Gneezie method of brim bending. What's to lose?

It's a real pain. Not only do I not like them flat billed, but I am NOT allowed to wear them around the Irish One.

My first attempt at a time lapse video, Lolol!
