Hey guys,

I have seen many reviews on youtube regarding the phoenix rebuildable atty. I got mine the other day and it was awful, it wouldnt wick and had hot spot in the center of the premade coil. Also the draw was so tight it gave a harsh throat hit and little vapor. Sound familiar? Well let me walk you through what I did to make this thing rock.

First off I will say I took a 1/16 drill bit to the air hole, it is now airy almost too airy but I have become used to it.
While I was not a fan of how loose it was I found the increase in air flow very helpful in getting more vapor and a smoother hit.
Next I removed the wick and coil, I found it was wound far to tight not allowing juice to reach the center coils creating hot spots.
I'm sure there are many vids you can watch to see this being done I plan to just give you a little info that will help you achieve a top notch vape.

1. Leave plenty of wick to stuff down inside the atty.
2. Be sure the coil is loose enough so you can twist it and it will spin in place.
(I find winding it around a thick needle and wick tightly is perfect after the needle is removed.)
3. Once the coil is in place use a small tool to raise the wick even make it arch slightly in the center.
(I found the air hole is even with the top of the base if it's bent into and arch this allows air to flow under the coil)

Notice the coil bent up in the center and evenly spaced coils, do not allow the coil to touch when bending it upwards they will get closer together at the bottom be sure they do not make contact.
4. Lastly be sure the air hole is perpendicular with the coil so air can flow directly into the side of it.

Hope this is of some use to anyone struggling with the phoenix rebuildable.

1/16th was too much, then. Good to know. I just got a Bulldog from OKC Vapes, and getting very harsh hits off of it. I plan to open it up a bit, but not sure how I'm going to go about it. Will look at building a coil for it here sometime tonight or tomorrow, see how a looser coil in that arched position works.

I just want to clarify, also, when you say to line the airhole up perpendicular, you mean to have it in line with the posts and coil, I'm taking it (if you could look through the hole you'd be looking along the coil versus at it).

Not in line with the posts at a right angle to them so the air flows in directly onto the coils. So if you were to look in through the whole you will see the side of the coil and wick.

Thanks Fyre, it was late when I posted. I was all, 'perpendicular what?'.

On my clone I have the airhole lined up where the air runs across the length of the coil, it's hitting fantastic all the sudden. This is with the stock coil. It could still use a bit more airflow (vapor seems to linger in the tube), but I don't think I want to risk ruining the body. I think that the coil definitely needed to be broke in, and that the wick needs time to fully saturate before using. Without any modification and just paying a bit better attention to airflow, this badboy has gone from a dud to a stud.
