Gun Metal Mods

This is probably a stupid question...but can anyone suggest something I can put on my gun metal (or black chrome) mods so that they don't show fingerprints QUITE so bad? Is there some sort of coating or something that can be rubbed on there.

Just thought I'd throw this out there. I love the gun metal look...but am not crazy about how grubby my mod looks after using it for even just a few minutes! (I don't seem to have anywhere near as much trouble with the regular chrome ones. Some, but not nearly as bad!)

You can go to Jwraps, I have it linked in my sig. He can make a clear vinyl wrap for you. I held the GG clear wrapped in my hand at a meet and you can not even tell it is on there. It works well for not leaving finger prints and you don't have to keep cleaning it off to look nice.

Hey! Aside from constantly fighting the finger prints, how's the finish on your Telescoping Mod holding up? You should see my Bolt...LOL. The gun metal finish is almost completely worn off and its showing crome on about 75% of the mod now. Seeing folks with the new Gun Metal VAMOs starting to post same issue. Kind of like it this way.

I've been using my gun metal telescope(it was called black chrome at LF where I got it) heavily for the past 3 months or so..all day and nearly every day...all the time; and the finish is fine. Other than the fingerprints! lol! Hasn't worn off at all, and when it's polished up a bit it's still beautiful! I've been really surprised to hear the reports of the finish wearing off on other devices. Weird.

Edit: It does have a couple of small scratches on it though...I've knocked it over a few times, unfortunately! (the scratches only show in really bright sunlight though! <G>)

That's great! Glad some vendors have got the finish right. Yeah, lesson learned for me...we get what we pay for I guess...LOL. Still though, even though the finsh is nearly all worn off, I'm loving this mod. Using it with a Kick and it's holding it's own really well.

There is a template for Vamo owners somewhere, someone mentioned it on the forum. Craft vinyl has a whole bunch of colors
and patterns. 5 12 by 12 squares for I think $5.99, however shipping is kind of expensive. $4.95 for shipping. But you can pick different colors. I just ordered some. You can probably make your own template if you are making it for a mod other than Vamo.
