While I'll admit I said I'd buy a guncoat one if it was made, I have three problems with it that's keeping me from giving up my credit card number.
#1. Standard end cap is not color matched, but extended cap is. Why? That doesn't even make sense...
#2. Top cap is not color matched. OK, I'm spoiled by my Stealth, and I'll likely cover the top cap with a ring...but still, it doesn't make sense!
#3. It's not version 3.
With that said, I would buy a current version IF I could get it completely color matched.

I agree, Bad. It's silly to not color match the entire thing. Nothing bothers me more than a mismatched PV
The top caps and standard bottom caps don't match ANY of the coatings besides stainless, Gunmetal is no different.
If I got the gunmetal, I'd go with the blue led, I think that'd be the perfect fit.
I was thinking the same thing but figured I would shaddap in case there was an earlier version that had matching top and bottom that I didn't know about.
And ditto on the blue. IMO they should have made blue standard on the gunmetal.

I like the look with an extended cap anyway - so that'd take care of the bottom.

You need to reread my post...I clearly state I'm spoiled by my STEALTH where everything matches.
The problem with a ring, they all leave a little of the top cap showing at the bottom. The bare stainless would still show.
For the price of one gun metal ZenKote with extension cap & non-red LED, you could buy two satin silver blems with red LED in Clearance...

Or you can sell 2 rarely used SS to fund Operation Gunmetal!
Depends on the ring. I've got the original Loki's - one polished & one black delrin - & neither let any of the top cap show through at all. I've noticed the Provape ones do a little bit & IIRC so do the IBT's.
My IBT ring does leave a thin stripe of SS cap visible - but I could live with that...still they're not going to make a gunmetal. Their colors are matched to their tank caps. I have a black one...that might be an OK look - black top with a gunmetal body...
I'm pretty sure the Kayfun "cone" ring completely covers the cap - but no colors available there either...

I wonder if that was because they wanted the price with extension cap to stay the same as the gold which comes with the extension cap in the price.

IBTPro rings don't leave any top cap exposed. At least not in my experience.
Yes, they all do. Every one of them. I can see it right in the picture you posted.
Imagine the Provari and the ring being black, but the top cap is bare metal...you'd see a fine line of silver.
