Gurgling Nautilus

I have my Aspire nautilus on my iTaste MVP 2.0 at 11 watts, running a 1.6ohm coil. I have also used it on my Nemesis mech mod with either an LG HE2 or a Sony VTC5 (I already know that mech's aren't ideal for tanks, but it was working really great). Everything has been fine, but now I'm noticing a bit of gurgling. Am I just under-powering the coil?

When this happens to me I take out the coil, wipe it a bit wit paper towel, then blow through it. Caution: it can get messy so hold the coil in some paper towel as you blow. Gurgle will be gone.

I agree with the others....The Nautilus really performs better at lower power levels. The reason it worked so well on your mech is because it hits at an *average* of about 3.7-3.8 volts. I run all three of my Nauty boys (1.8omh coil) at 8.5w or 4v. 1.6ohm coils might like a little less. But change out that coil first and start with a fresh one. The gurgley one is probably spent. Hope this helps! :vapor:

To fix a flooded atomizer take your tank off the battery and blow through the mouthpiece (with a paper towel covering the airflow hole). This will drain the extra eliquid.

When you inhale, take a long smooth draw vs a short sharp draw. This will prevent extra eliquid from being pulled into your coils and flooding it. Inhalation technique with an e-cigarette

Whenever you first sense that your atomizer is beginning to flood try this:
1. Open up the airflow so when you take a hit you are not pulling in as much juice into your coils.
2. Raise your voltage or wattage if your battery allows you to do this. This will vaporize more eliquid.
3. Tip your battery up (and take a few hits). By tipping it up you will prevent more eliquid from being fed into the coils.

Give one or all of these a try.:)

I have had an issue with a few coils being threaded poorly and causing some leakage. Yes they are authentic coils.

Personally I am kind of fed up with all the little issues my Nautilus has had with the price of the coils.

Ah well, the price we pay for staying off smokes. :)

I've done all these things. The coil is less than a day old. Lower power fixed it. Which leads me to another question. Why is everyone suggesting the iStick 30w or 50w if the Nautilus works best with 7 or 8 watts? (not suggesting it here, obviously, but in general)
Suggesting higher wattage batteries for the nautilus, or in general? I run mine at 12.5 watts on my mvp, and its a smooth quiet vape. I can go up to 15 ans it's still good, beyond that and I get dry hits. It depends on the juice, some juice will respond to heat differently than others. You might be running a higher pg the me. I moved to rebuildables though, the Nautilus doesn't have the air flow (even after I drilled it out), and the coils are expensive. Plus the flavor is kinda muted compared to an rta. The coils that I rebuild taste better, but I notice that they don't last as long as the pre-built ones.

The only time my Nautilus has ever gurgled was when it was underpowered. I'm not sure what you guys think is overpowered, but I run mine with a 1.6ohm BVC coil at 19 watts all day long, and I normally vape 5-6ml a day through it for 3 weeks or more on a single coil without a problem. The only time I've ever had a problem is if I drop the wattage below 12 watts, then it pops and gurgles and produces a poor vape. I'm using the second to the largest air hole and a 50/50 mix on my juice.

My wife's friend was in town last week. She also uses a Nautilus at 14 watts on her Smoktech SID. I had her try her tank on my mod with it set to 19 watts and she took a single puff and was amazed how much better it worked and tasted.

So what exactly do all of you consider overpowered. because in my experience these tanks don't really shine until you're higher than 15 watts.

I keep mine between 12 and 15 watts on an MVP 20 watt, if I go below that it pops and gurgles. Too much higher and I get too much throat hit for my taste, but that is just personal preference.

I could see different juice needing to be higher or lower, but even the higher PG juice I have tried didn't do well below 11 watts.

Seems odd to me too that some suggest using it at such low wattage.

That's where I'm confused. I've seen so many people suggesting 15 watts or more for the Nautilus, so I assumed the gurgling was due to be underpowered. The responses here make it sound like I should be using an eGo battery. I know that can't be right.

Crank up the watts and see how it works. Go up to 15 and if it works fine keep pushing it up until you're happy with it. The worst that will happen is you'll get a dry hit or pop a coil.

I too find the "lower the wattage" claims to be really strange. Recommending a lower voltage than a fully charged battery puts out is just plain wrong. Most mods don't have the ability to step down voltage, and I can assure you that Aspire didn't design a tank that couldn't be used with a fully charged battery.

That's the lowest I run mine at.

I have two Nautilus Minis that I run between 12.5W and 15W without any problems. As I recall, the 1.8 Ohm coils are rated up to 6V, which is equivalent to about 20W. I have run mine up to 18W, just to see what it was like, and the coil worked just fine without issues, though the vapor was too hot for me.
