P16 with LR 510, vapemate and IMR battery

while driving to work, i could tell i had squeezed a little too much juice and it was leaking a touch,
so at the next light, i took off the atty, blew and wiped off the excess juice

after i put it back together, the button would get caught in the depressed state and the battery was getting EXTREMELY hot... i immediately took it apart

after getting into work, i tried a new battery... that worked for a few but then the button would stick again.

i replaced the atty, and havent had the issue again (yet)

any ideas? the mod isnt that old, didnt think it was time for any serious maintenance

thanks

Yes, sir, the atty shorted out. It's even easier to do with the vapemate on as it gives more leverage to overtighten the atty. When you replaced the atty you were good to go. I periodically loosen the atty a bit to check it's tighteness when using the vapemate.

Yes overtightened that sucker..... I actually use my Vape Mate as a kind of kill switch, when I'm not going to be using the device I will use my finger to swing the atty loose so it doesn't make contact. Problem is though that I can easily tighten it up too much in the same manner, but I am also very careful not to crank it down cause I've seen atomizers that have shorted out like the ones in the pic below (Lisa at Cloud9 took these of a customer's returned atomizers). Its kinda weird that the button got stuck though. I guess it was welding itself to the battery. Might want to give the contact point on the button a little sanding.

Does that atomizer look anything like these? The only good one in the bunch is the one in front...

I had the same exact thing happen to me, did the exact thing you did. David told me the exact same thing. So, you are not alone, lol!
