Halo replacement coils, can I use a different (cheaper) brand?

Got a halo Triton, been on it for 2 months, been completely analog free for 2 weeks (feeling like crap). Been ordering the sampler packs and found my faves, although ive been looking at other e-juice places and noticed they are loads cheaper.

All that said considering the somewhat high price of Halo's E-juice the 5 pack of replacements coils seems a bit steep at 12.50.

Is there heads that are cheaper that will fit into my Triton tank with no problems? I'm using the 2.2 - 2.4 ohms.

first of all buy your coils and hardware, when there is a sale on... like there is right now. 10% off and double points helps out.

to answer your question, yes there are "cheaper" heads that will fit, BUT they dont perform as well, IMO.

also learn to properly clean and maintain your coils, they last a lot longer

I tried some cheaper replacement coils once mind you once. I really was not satisfied as much as I am with replacement Halo coils. While you can find coils cheaper, they will not last as long as the halo coils that will cost a little bit more.

So far I've been cleaning my wicks and coils after 3 tank fills with light liquids and 1ish with dark liquids. I've found it incredibly hard to clean the burnt sugars on the wicks after 3 tank fills and decided to toss the head into the garbage. Rewicking doesn't seem to be hard, and ill try the vodka/denture cleaner soaks im guessing.

I was in the same boat, thinking the replacement coils are a bit steep. I was doing the rinse + denture cleaner route. I would actually twist and remove the wicks so they could get more of a benefit of the cleaner.

What I am doing now, is I ordered replacement wicks (25' of silica wick for like $14). So if I cut each wick to 3", I should get about 100 wicks out of what I ordered.
So when a wick is tasting bad/performing poorly, I can dryburn the coil and replace the wick @ 14 cents a piece. Much better than the whole coil.

And I also got some 32ga Kanthal a1 for when the need arises I can rebuild the coil also, which is super easy if you follow the write up in here somewhere. 100' of kanthal was under $5.
So i spent $20 and can basically get 100 new coils out of it, Id say thats a pretty good deal.

Where did you see a write up on rebuilding a Triton Coil that was super easy?

I know about Joe13's excellent thread, where he starts the thread by saying how difficult this is. One day, I will attempt a Triton coil rebuild, but until then, I'm happy spending a few bucks to save me hours of work.

That was the thread. He says its difficult, i found it to be easy. The hardest part was snipping excess wire from the bottom cause of how tiny of a space it is. i think i had my first coil done and firing in under 10 minutes (had to stop and tend to the needy kids a few times which made it seem longer)
If you are technically minded, and have previous electronic experiences, i think it wouldn't be bad. If you have trouble building ikea furniture, then maybe steer clear
