Halo Triton tank system sucks..?

Hi, I'm new to forums and I'm definitely hoping for some help from the community on this one. Halo customer support is virtually useless and seems like they are just reading off a script. I am aware that there is a clearomizer forum, but I can't post there due to new member restrictions.

I'll start by stating that I am not a experienced e-cigarette user, in any aspect. My friend purchased the Halo G6 cartomizer and spoke highly of it, so I decided to purchase the Triton Starter kit, which had positive reviews. I've been really wanting to quit smoking, and it seemed like a solid investment at the time. It worked fairly well at first, but I quickly started having problems with it. Out of the two tanks that came in the starter kit, one clogged up and became unusable for unknown reasons while the second had the wick burn out on the coil after only a a day of light use. So I just figured with my inexperience with ecigs that I must have somehow caused these symptoms by overflowing the tank or something of the sort. So, I ordered a replacement tank and five 2.2-2.4 ohms coils. Now when I use any of the three tanks and new coils, it has a very distinctive burnt taste, almost right from the the first vape. It doesn't matter what combination of coils, tank, and ejuice I use, the result is the same. I take care not to overtighten the coil or the battery, and I make sure not to spill any ejuice on the inside of the coil when filling the tank. I'm not sure if this an issue with the battery outputting to much voltage or something of that nature, or if I'm doing something wrong.

Seeing as I was trying to make a genuine attempt at quitting smoking, and had multiple days smoke free, this issue is incredibly frustrating for me. Any help or insight into this situation is greatly appreciated.

2 main causes of burnt taste is dry wicks and over voltage. Quality control is the main cause of premature equipment failure.

With top coil wicks you have to keep them wet. I used a similar system and I always tilted it up and swirled it around as I took a puff. Also the draw is slower than with smoking a cigarette. If you pull too hard you can literally suck the wick dry or flood the coil depending on the angle.
You just have to play with it and see what works best.

Let me first say that I don't own or use Halo products. They are essentially re-branded ego batteries and re-branded Kanger T2 clearomizers.

Someone else who is more familiar than me about the Halo product line can confirm the connector thread type that Halo uses: ego vs 808 threading. If ego threading, there has been upgrades to the T2 clearo. Versions are now up to T3S which are a better quality clearo. T3 Clearomizer - AltSmoke

Halo got me off analogs and I still use my Trition VV and Triton tanks today. It has been the easiest, carefree set up and love it. When you fill it, you need to make sure the wicks get soaked, this is pretty much the case w/any tank. I let the juice sit in the tank for about 10-15 mins. I also take "no power prime" hits. Basically, plug the bottom of the tank with ur finger and vent holes and draw in slow and w/force about 5-6 times.

Then when that's done, I will then put the tank on the batt and push the power button and do some quick primes like a cigar just to pull in the juice onto the wicks. Then it should be good to go. As far as gunked coils or lack of performance w/the coils, what juice are you using? If its 100% VG, it maybe gunking the coils up.

Come over to Halo forum when you can or go to YT and search Halo Ecig or Triton tanks. Lots of good info on there.

Triton has kept me off analogs for almost 3 weeks, I have never had a burnt taste, or a clogged coil.
I have only used halo juices as of now, but I have read High vg juices can burn the wicks if not vaped properly.

Higher VG takes longer to soak the wicks, so if you are taking too many consecutive vapes the wicks could be getting dry.

Whenever I fill a tank, new coil or not, I let it sit for a good 10 mins, then do just like angi said, finger in hole, cover the vents and pull juice into the coil, not too much as you can flood the coil, and keep the wicks wet during vaping
You can vape pure VG you just need to make sure the wicks are soaked before you vape it.

Not familiar with Halo but just wondering how a "tank" can become unusable. The tank is just the tank. It's the head / wick / coil that becomes unusable for one reason or another. Is there something different about Halo in which the actual tank itself can become unusable?
Some clearomizers (tanks) are not "rebuildable", meaning that they were not designed to have their coil heads replaced. All coils eventually burn out and need to be replaced. The clearomizers that use coil heads that are not replaceable are essentially disposable after they stop working.

Most of the more modern designed clearomizers (Kanger T2, T3, Evod, Protank--Innokin 16, 30--Vision Vivi Nova) allow their burnt-out coil heads to be replaced to prolong the use of the "tanks".

Halo does sell replacement coil heads for their clearomizers.

Thanks for all the advice, I appreciate the feedback. I have the tanks washed out and drying so I'll give it another go tomorrow with the remaining coil assemblies that I have. As I said in the first post, everything worked very well at first. I am still using the same ejuice that was purchased from Halo's site and the coils i ordered are the same that Halo provides in their starter kits so I'm a little confused about what I started doing differently. I've ordered a Kanger Evod starter kit which I will have fairly soon, and from what I understand it is one of the best entry level e-cigs you can find. It would still be nice to get the Triton working anyway considering it was 65 bucks. Guess I should have done my research first.

First off I would like to say I bought my halo triton kit 3 months ago and still using it until this day. I have all sorts of mods and tanks. 95 percent of the time I use the triton 400 battery type and I used 2.8 ohm for the TriBeCa e juice or i say the darker w juice and for light ejuice I go with the 2.2. To make sure you dot get a burnt taste make sure you get the top wicks wet and do not over flow it to 2.0 when feat filling it.make sure you swirl it to hit the top wicks after that. Also make sure that the coil is not on tight in the inside !!! Trust me once you get this halo triton thing right you will uses it most of the time I'm sure of it!!

I have clean it plenty of times :) and they work perfect. It is the same ones I had before. I am not kidding and they are not even burnt brown or anything. I learn how to clean it at eccr.com I still have 4 coils out of the new pack I got with it. I'm just saying halo has been very impressive. Like I said once you figure out the coils and right juices you will be happy.

I started with Halo setup and used them several months, eventually changed over to ego style and MVP 2 so could use all the different style tanks and such. If your planning on staying with Halo I'd suggest getting a twist variable voltage one with multiple different ohm replacement coils so you can dial in your taste on the voltage. That will really change the flavor/heat of your vape.
