I got the blinking light, and assumed it was the battery, but it's not. This tank won't work with any of my batteries, and the battery I questioned works with other tanks. The only reason I care is that this is the purple tank I use with my Iridescent battery, it's my go to the bar unit. The coil is less than a week old, and everything seems to be tight. Premature coil failure?

make sure the coil is properly seated and screwed down correctly on the post in the tank. They can often become slightly unscrewed when removing the drip tip to refill the tank.

As a general rule of thumb, every time you remove the drip tip to refill, always hand tighten the coil back down on the post.

Dead batteries needing a recharge is 15 blinks. Shorts are 4 blinks, if it's a coil shorting out. You can try loosening the tip, and re-tighten. This will re-seat the coil connection.

You can take off the condom, pop off the cap, remove the top wick and inspect the coil to make sure nothing is touching, or put in a new (working) coil to verify if the tank is FUBAR, like I had a couple weeks ago. There's no fix for a bad tank.

The extension in the tank for whatever reason can sometimes cease to supply current.

a real multitester will find the problem quickly. (another reason why this tool is so useful...)

Note, if you screw anything down too tight (coil to tank, or tank to battery) the grommets get over-compressed. These grommets not only seal the liquid in, but also insulate the electrical conductors. Take a good look at the center button at the bottom of the tank, and compare it to your others.

Thanks for the replies, all good advice, swapped coil, works fine, will try to rehabilitate the one in question.
If you take the little (easily lost) silver top off and the flavor wick, look at the coil. If it's touching the wall, take tweesers and squeeze the coil together, towards the center.

And if you fail, keep the parts for replacements. Or try your hand at rebuilding it. See Joe13's great thread on this...
