On the road
It has taken some time, cutting down a lot at first, but I am now happily off the analogs. I've had a few instances the past few days where I was tempted to buy a pack but didn't do so. I'm currently at our shop having my truck serviced and a lot of the guys here smoke. It's a very good sign that instead of the smell of their smokes making me want one it just stinks. I've been around them all day and haven't even been tempted, just totally turned off by the stench.

BOTH of ya are way ahead of where I was. It took ME a year and nine months before I was able to make the switch completely...but I MADE IT...and you will too!

It DOES get better! :)
Honestly, what do you think took you that long?
You might have valuable information to share for some folks that are struggling.

The Short story in two words: CrappyHardwareLowNicAnd BadFlavors! ;)

The Long story: I bought a Joye 510 cig-a-like on December 18, 2009, along with some 18mg 'puke juice' that really made me gag occasionally. I had troubles with sore lungs and mouth using pure PG (that was about all I could find back then), and the hassle of those plastic cartridge tips with 'teabag' filler were a major PAIN in the caboose! On top of that, those little rechargeable batteries would only last about 2 hours before needing a recharge. Atomizers were constantly gunking up and burning out, and keeping that crap going was a LOT more trouble than smoking. Did I mention the LEAKING?!?!?

Fast forward to September 25, 2011: I received an Ego-T kit, and raised the nic from 18mg to 24mg. Ego-T had it's problems with leaking, but with the 24mg eliquid, IT DID THE TRICK for me...and I haven't had another analog since! BING BAM WHAM...I was DONE! :D

My 'must haves' are (1) GOOD HARDWARE, (2) nic levels HIGH enough to satisfy or quell the urge to smoke, and (3) at least ONE flavor that tastes better than 'upchuck'.

The starter kit I recommend for my buddies contains 2 Ego Twist batts & charger, 2 Evods or Mini Novas (with an extra 5 pack of coil heads), and a trip to a Vape-Meet for sampling tons of flavors before spending a wad on untried 'mystery juice'. I'm now into DIY, but still buy a few 'must have' flavors from Backwoods Brew (Casablanca), Mad Vapes (Black Licorice) and Vapor Hut (Apple Pie Alamode...YUM).

If I could have started out with better hardware and flavors - and 24mg nic - I'm sure I could have made the switch much earlier...but there wasn't much to choose from back then. We've got it GOOD these days!

Strangely enough, I still carry a lighter in my pocket. After 32+ years of analogs, the lighter is a personal ritual. I enjoy Flicking my BIC; especially at night. And i LOVE 'fiddle free' vaping in 2013! :)

Anywhoo, that's my story...y'all can WAKE UP now!!! I'm done.

(Did I mention how GOOD that extra $3000+ in my pocket feels since I made the switch? :D :2c:)

I'm working hard right now to get totally off the analogs. I'm still doing 6-8 a day. I've only had my hardware for about 2 weeks. I did start out with iTaste vv knockoff and Kanger T-3 and will have the real thing in the mail today. Also went in head first making my own juice. I have made my first commercial tobacco flavor at 12mg and was pretty impressed for my first try. Any way I'll have a lot more liquids in this week to play with. By the way I was a heavy smoker for 30 yrs plus.
