I was a teenager. Being in the cornfields of Ohio, I doubt I even knew it was going on...TV back then isn't like is now, for sure, so I don't remember any coverage ahead of time.

It's hard to believe it's been 40 years though. And, just in the past couple of week was the 40th anniversary of the Beatles crossing Abbey Road (for their album cover).

Time does march on!

I knew it was happening. Huge teenage angst resulted from not being able to be there!

Lotta freaks...

Where were you in '69?

I was under a shroom...:w00t:

Forty years ago my friends and I went camping in upstate New York. We were trying to find a campsite that could accommodate us, but it seemed everywhere we went, all of the sites were full. We finally came upon a corn field where the owner allowed us to stay the night for 2 bucks. During the night it stormed something fierce. Our tent was completely washed out. When it stopped raining, I could hear in the near distance music coming from beyond the cornfield. I said to myself, "Wow, that's some powerful stereo I hear." For the next several hours I listened to the music, not knowing where it was coming from.

The next morning, we headed back to the city. Once I was able to find the New York State thruway, it was bumper to bumper traffic all the way in. At one point I rolled down my window and asked the van next to me where all these people were coming from. He said, "The music festival."

It wasn't until I got home and saw on the news that the Woodstock Festival was that weekend, and I was probably only several hundred yards away and unaware of one of the greatest music events of all time.

So close yet so far away!

Peace
