"Hard water" = sick atomizer?

You know, folkses, something just occurred to me...

I have very hard water here. I cleaned my first atty with hot water from the faucet. I wonder if sediment formed while drying, and that's why it's been "poorly" ever since... It just doesn't produce much vapor, no matter what I do with it, or what I drip on it.

What do you think? Should I do distilled water instead? I did blow it out afterwards, but it might not remove all the sediment.

I don't use water on attys - 151 only but if I had to, I live in the country with hard water and I'd use distilled for sure.

So now I let it sit for about a day and use a different atomizer, and I haven't really had that problem. There are numerous drying methods discussed throughout the forum though, I just don't want to hassle with that myself.

Well, I washed this one three days ago. And it's still sick. I must have blown it out a million times. I blotted it with a napkin even. I primed it and re-primed it. It still doesn't produce much vapor. I use it for direct dripping only anyway, because carts don't fit it right - too loose, but even with that it's barely alive...

I don't know what else to do with it. Give it an alcohol bath? Vape hot water?

when my atty start giving less vapor i hold the button down on my 510 for 10 seconds or so a few times. seems to bring it back to life. maybe it will work for you!

510. This particular atty, though is one of the "new and improved" ones from IV. It's a tad different than my other ones (which I got later from Healthcabin). The bottom of the well is covered all the way around - you can't see those little horisontal "tails" from the wick, just the part sticking up. It's also a bit bigger than then the others in diameter - the carts fit very loosely and leak, so I only use it for dripping. I don't know if these specifically have problems.

Exactly two. One doesn't seem to be enough, and three will flood it for some reason.

Sounds like you're on top of things then.

I can't tell you about using hard water because our water is filtered.
But I could suggest a coke bath for your atomizer.

Just on this point.... the 901 carts from dietsmokes work with the 'new attys' from IV... Just got some carts and tried them and they're a good fit on mine.
