I bought, from a DIY vendor,a bottle of 80vg/20 pg nic level 6 base with some sweet tobacco flavor..Great service etc...I have been lowering nic level over a period of time to 3/6 depending on vendor..This my first time DIY..I've never had a harsh peppery exhale with any premade e liquid..I tried adding VG I bought at rite aid,got a lousy taste, tried some from hobby lobby and same taste..I also got a smaller jug of PG but adding that still harsh..Maybe get a bottle of 0 nic and cut in half? Also flavor is too sweet for my taste..May try a bakery flavor..Using a Triton 2,.5 ohm coil at 40 watts..Same flavor with triton mini..Premade uncle junks JW 6mg. nic tastes great in both..I'm trying to costs....Thanks for any advice,Bob

So how does the 6mg/ml Nicotine Base taste without adding any Flavorings?

What Percentage of Flavoring did you add to the 6mg/ml? And How Long did you let it Sit before you tried it?

In my opinion it sounds like poor quality or spoiled nicotine and if so no amount of time or heating to try fix it will work. I have tried to salvage some e-Liquid I got from a vendor that made my throat burn byt letting it air out and left it for months to eventually use it as a pest repellent.

@Art Mustel just making sure you did not take it the wrong way or different from how it was meant. Just keeping it civilized and making sure I did not offend you in any way. Good to know it is all good! I had a cat continuously getting into the drip pan under the gas grill. 2 drops of some nasty e-Liquid keeps him/her away now!

a peppery taste is usually from a low grade nicotine

The nicotine is neither of poor quality or low grade nor spoiled. Nicotine is naturally peppery tasting.
Tasteless nicotine is just refined further to remove the peppery taste and costs more.
Find some tasteless nicotine to your liking. Don't fret over the nicotine itself it won't harm you.
Nicotine is nicotine. Your body doesn't care and, neither does the nicotine.

Mike

That's the best policy. Get what you like of course. All I am suggesting is that it isn't
a quality issue. It's just a preference. There is nothing inherently wrong if the nicotine
tastes peppery. Tasteless nicotine is just tasteless.:)
It's all good.

Likely harsh nicotine. Vape just the unflavored base and if still harsh that will rule out flavoring. you can also vape just the VG and PG alone to rule those out as well. As suggested earlier just get a more refined Nicotine solution such as NicSelect or vaperstek

FWIW, my $50/liter 100mg/ml nic from www.MyFreedomSmokes.com is pretty much taste free. There's no peppery taste. It's water clear.

As others said, some people like a little nic bite and some like the peppery taste. That lets you know there's nic in the mix.

The more nic in the mix the more you sense it. At 3mg/ml I don't sense it nearly as much as I did at 24mg/ml. We do sense nic in just about any proportion in the mix. When I tried going to 0 nic the whole experience changed ... no nic bite at all. That's when I went back to 3mg/ml. It seems that we can detect small amounts just fine.
