so i've been using cotton wicks for about 2 days and i can't seem to get rid of this really bad harsh taste. any tips on how to get rid of it would be much appreciated.

If you burn the cotton from dry burn or its not saturated with e liquid you will burn it and you must replace the cotton, cotton gets burnt real easy but don't be discouraged its the best and keep trying you will get it down and never look back!

Make sure you are using 100% organic cotton, even soI heard some people boil the crap out their cotton, dry, reboil etc...The brand I use, I didn't have to boil at all

That's an awful lot of cotton - I wonder if you're choking the cotton at the wick? You need to have just enough that it slides through easily - if the cotton in the coil is too tight it will choke.
Boiling shouldn't affect whether or not it's a harsh taste, but you have nothing to lose by trying it.

i've been slowly using less and less through the coil it pulls through pretty easily

Whoa cowboy. That looks like all thr cotton in the south. Try less,,,,way less. You have a hot gooey mess. Try too little and come up. Keep the faith,,,cotton is the cure. Good. Luck.
What is your setup? Could be a combination of juice pg/vg ratio, wattage, and if you have big enough air holes.

currently using smoktech squid bored out air hole to about 1.8 mm on evod vv at about 3.6 volts vaping suicide bunnies sucker punch
Are you absolutely sure that the airhole is lined up with the hole in the bottom of the squid and that you're vaping with the airhole pointing up? (I'm assuming it's like the octopus). If not, it makes an awful taste....
Also, try it with just a tiny bit of cotton just a bit sticking out the ends, to see how it affects the flavor.

its not like the octo the air hole is in the top of the cap just have to line it up with the coil and vape
You could also not be allowing enough airflow between the cotton and the coil. I've noticed that's my main issue

ok so i just finished rewicking with about a quater the cotton i was using seems to have done the trick thanks for the help you guys
Is it a new atomizer? Some have machine oil inside and if you don't wash it good it gets a bad yucky taste.
