Hi Happy Vapers!

Occasionally I trawl through the new members forum looking mainly for new unanswered posts, and also for juicy posts to reply to - like ones where someone says they are having stress or its not working etc. I like to give them a lovely warm squishy reply just like the responses I got when I joined which made me feel warm and cuddly. TBH it's mainly this forum and its super helpful friendly members that kept/keeps me on track

Who else does this?

Guilty. I've got an auto 401 hanging out of my mouth when I do it, too. Personally, I like getting to the noobs before all of the folks who just want to tell the OP to buy the gear that they like. Why do they think the noob who is asking about cheap super-minis wants to drop the cash on a Reo? And why do they think noobs want a TH like a thermonuclear warhead?

Yep. guilty too. I know if I faltered most folk here would help, and I know how totally frustrated I got between the withdrawal and the kit that didn't work right for me at first. Only fair to help if I can, we social outcasts need to hang together

Harvesting......Sounds like "Soylent Green" again. It comes up every once in a while....... lol.

I think most on ECF are very helpful. There's a whole "snails" group dedicated to finding slow-response posts, for example.

I've been here for 4 months, and have posted a fairly large amount. But i'm very slow when it comes to buying new equipment. For instance, I just got my first lr attys for my ego last week. I've been trawlng the newbie forum for my newbie type questions since I can't create a post there anymore, and to be honest, i'm almost embarrassed to ask about it since lr is not really that much of an advancement. Most people at this as long as me are into de-wicking, box mods, trustfire batteries, etc... I spent my time/money on juice since my ego is a basic, functional unit. I haven't even jacked with cartos yet. I'm still using carts and blue foam. It seems like my gear is "old-school" these days, even for the newbies. But slowly, i'm figuring out what's next. About the time the next big thing comes along, i'll probably get around to buying the last big thing-my first reo or something. In my opinion, that's one of the best and worst things about this forum. It's all there, all different levels of usage. You can learn about anything. But at the same time, you get flooded with info about things you're not ready for too. It takes patience and a good bit of self-restraint to keep from spending yourself into the poorhouse.

If I see a noobie introducing himself/herself and their first post is down at the bottom of the page with 0 replies, well, I guess I just gotta go at least welcome them to ECF.

Most of the time that doesn't happen tho, but sometimes they just slip thru the cracks I guess.

I agree with that, as much as I want to tell all the newbies to go and get a Riva901 like me, I have to accept that they can choose for themselves - let's keep things at advice and not instruction

Yeah... that happens sometimes. I read the posts for hours, took notes, and came in with an introductory post (with ecig history and details). Sometimes, newbs won't bother to read the stickies, or what's already out there (which is a bit of a message board no-no to me - but it's the internet, and some don't care).

That said, there were quite a few responses, with some great recommendations (eGo, by the way ). I couldn't be happier - having a great PV and a great group of fellow vapers to discuss, chat, whatever.

Again, glad you guys are here.

I pop in the noob section once in a while to do a little drive-by posting, but that's about it. But yea, I know when I first started vaping, I found the support I got in forums a big help so I'm sure it's appreciated by the new members. I try to give a little back when I can. Though, I have come across people that just can't get the hang of it and end up back on the analogs. I know one personally myself.

Hehe, I've been guilty of failing to read the stickies and failing to use the search tool myself, and that's recently. Oh well, that's just lazy internet users.

I like to welcome people and make them feel at home. I try to never tell people they have to buy something to be happy. I try to answer their questions honestly and help them to make the equipment they have work the best it can for them. I try to keep my personal opinions of other people's e-cigs, cartos, atty's or juice to myself. I have realized that vaping is extremely individualized. What works for me might not work for others. I love to hear everyone's stories. A lot of people were kind, welcoming and helpful when I joined so I try to pass that spirit along to the new people just joining.

I'm like you. I check out the newbie forum first and reply to the posts with the least replies. I know what it's like to sit a wait for a reply. Patience isn't one of my virtues. Another reason I check the newbie forum a lot is because I've only been vaping for about 2 -3 months now so those are the only questions I can answer. Also, I do it as a pay back for all the help I got from ECF members.

Yes, I believe you do. Those events are seasonal. However; if you resided down here in exciting North Georgia, you could go to a goat roping, cow tipping, steel cage and chain wrasslin' match, or just a regular drunken bar fight most any night of the week!

I will welcome new folks, and I will tell them what I use, but every newbie wants a Rolls Royce quality ecig and wants to spend only $10 on it. As long as that Rolls Royce looks like his old brand of cigarette, and tastes exactly like his old brand of cigarette and never needs to be charged or filled, he has exactly what he wants... at least he has exactly what he has asked for. I find that one must wade through what a person says he wants to find out exactly what he needs. I have been in IT long enough to know that most people have no idea what they need to do their jobs, but they know exactly what they want... they want what was the big news on CNN that morning.

Keeping watch on the new members is important. Sharing the knowledge...

.......But I would like to see more of helping the new member learn to use what he has and NOT telling him it is "junk...go buy this..."

Master what you have first then YOU can decide for yourself if you want something different.

Example...I have lots of PVs.....AND I get great draw, vapor and throat hit from my old 510...because I know how to use it !!!

I agree CW.... I seldom say anything is junk... mostly because I haven't personally used it. OTOH... rip-off..... might have said that.
