Has anyone else notice a decrease in appetite?

lol, yeah, Im not complaining. It could just be my body adjusting to something completely different, or it may be confusing my vapes as snacks or something. mm watermellon, banana, licorice :p
Yeah this lol
I like a bit of choccy late at night but it doesn't seem to go with my vaping flavors so Ihaven't really had any since I started vaping. I never ate a ton of food anyways but being a PC person I dont get as much excercise as I used to (used to work out about 4 times a week, yes even when a smoker!) and that, to me, is always cause for weight gain whatever amount you eat (sort of like GIGO for people, lol).
I'm eating normal meals at mealtimes but snacking seems to have died compeltely away - I don't think thats a bad thing tho :) I'm sure you've got something with the flavored vapes being confused as 'snacks' because minea re quite delicious and dare I say 'satisfying'.
Maybe my brain assumes the flavor input = you just ate?

Yes, very much so.

To be fair thats one of the reasons I have just taken up vaping.

I gave up analogs in April and have put on 35lbs since.
I never used to eat much through the day, but as a non smoker I was stuffing my face all day long.

Im only a couple of days into vaping and I already have my appetite back to "normal"

I missed smoking, and vaping seems to have none of the bad bits about smoking (health, costs, smell, and anti social conotations) but all he best bits and more.

Personally, over the course of about 3 weeks, I've noticed a reduced appetite, or general interest in eating. Honestly, in my case, I feel its due to somewhat of an infatuation that I've developed with vaping, lol. Kinda reminds me of when I was a kid, my Mom would say, "Are you gonna eat, or play games for dinner?".....I, of course chose the games.....look at me now. lol

In all seriousness , considering there isnt really much to go on when it comes to the complexity of not only how we react to what we a now ingesting, but also our physiological and psychological reaction to the absence of the innumerable chems we would ingest. I think its natural to think that we'll go through changes, but loss of appetite could lead to weight loss in an unhealthy fashion. We should monitor ourselves a bit to see if there is a commonality, albeit positive or negative, that we could extrapolate on as a community.

I don't think its unhealthy as long as its snacking which goes and not normal eating patterns.
I get hungry and I eat at breakfast/lunch/dinner. What I don't do is snack in between meals - I vape instead lol. Maybe because I'm vaping a sweet flavor that helps? Honestly I don't know WHY, but I dont feel 'faint with hunger' or in any way ill because of it - it IS interesting though :)
Perhaps its also because vaping can be kinda drying and we drink more liquid this also helps us feel more full?

Well, I am far from an expert, but I've done some reading...

Wiki says this:
"Propylene glycol is metabolized in the human body into pyruvic acid, which is a normal part of the glucose metabolism process and is readily converted to energy."
Propylene glycol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

One of our preeminent resident chemists, Dvap, has this take on it:
"Propylene glycol, on the other hand, is metabolized (oxidized) to pyruvic acid. The body knows what to do with this stuff. The pyruvate dehydrogenase enzyme goes to work on it, and pretty soon the citric acid cycle takes over, and it's metabolized for energy."
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...t-determining-nicotine-dvap-3.html#post562448 (read that whole thread if you have a thirst for knowledge and a surplus of time, it covers a hell of a lot more than just determining nicotine content)

And as for VG, since my search-fu powers are now depleted, you'll have to take my word that I've read that VG is metabolized directly into glucose.(sugar)

So my layman's interpretation, which is perhaps overly simplified and possibly inaccurate, is that we actually get calories from vaping. Combine that with the appetite-suppression effects of nicotine, and BAM, you're just not that hungry anymore. Now put that ecig down and go eat a proper meal! :p

THIS IS MOSTLY AIMED @ DIABETICS:

I'm a diabetic, and vape only VG. I don't think the amt of glucose is very significant, because I'm a very heavy vaper, and my numbers haven't gone up at all. In fact, they seem to be a bit lower. Now I'm making no claims here, medical or otherwise. Simply stating what I've found to be true for me.

Different diabetics react differently to foods all the time. I can only eat red bliss taters. Any other taters send my BS (blood sugar) thru the roof. Same with rice. I can eat brown basmati rice, and only that. So VG may very well act one way for me, and a very different way for another diabetic.

My advice, whether you're using VG or PG is to use your tester more often. Get a good feel for whats going on in your system. Make adjustments as needed. And talk to Doc. If Doc hasn't heard of this revolution, he needs to. My Doc is currently studying all about PG & VG so he can answer my questions, as well as adjust my meds as needed.

Sorry if I hi-jacked. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming. ;)

Since Ive started solely vaping my appetite has been killed.

I am currently "overweight" but am really confused why my appetite has gone down to nil. My schedule is a bit weird right now so I eat whenever i am hungry, but without the normal hunger pangs telling me I should eat Ive been eating far less.

Just me?

I wish *long sssiiiiiggggghhhhhhh*:(

So what's wrong with me???????? I want that side affect!

I've also read somewhere here that it doesn't affect diabetics because the glucose bypasses the pancreas. Sounds wild, I know. I'll practice a little search-fu during the commercials of the game and see what I can come up with.

I found it here, courtesy of TropicalBob:
G L Y C E R I N
(also known as Glycerine, and Glycerol)
By Dr George Samra
An extract from Dr George Samra (2002),THE HYPOGLYCEMIC CONNECTION II, One Stop Allergies, Sydney. Australia Page 251.

"When given orally, glycerin is readily absorbed. It may be employed as a sweetening agent or vehicle in place of syrups. It may be used in diabetes and in Hypoglycemia Disease as a sweetener because its absorption and metabolism bypass the pancreas and insulin secretion. In this way it is able to act as a useful energy source in these diseases."

Route of entry should not alter this finding.

But still, I'd consult your doctor and test blood sugar often.
