Hey all,
I was wanting to know if anyone else has found what I've found. I ordered a SmokTech UDCT tank a few weeks ago, and with it, I ordered 5 pre-punched cartomizers to go along with it. But then, I saw something curious. Next to the cartomizers, I saw an item that was a pre-punched ATOMIZER.
Intrigued, I purchased one of those just to check it out. It is exactly like a cartomizer, but it doesn't have any cotton-type filler inside of the tube. It's just an atomizer. I was skeptical at best, because I just didn't know if it would work, but to my surprise, it did! I've had it running on my Vamo v2 for about 4 days now, and I am totally blown away! No leaking, no burnt taste, no anything except for flavor and tons of vapor production.
I've looked around at all the vendors I use, and the only one I've found is where I bought it. (hoosier ecigs)
Has anyone else tried this?
I'm going to try to attach pictures of it, but bear with. I'm relatively new at this forum. Dct.jpgdctatom.jpg

So just bare coils and no polyfill in a cartomizer body? Or do they have some sort of wicking mechanism/method to get the juice to the coils without simply flooding the tube?

I confess, I am intrigued, but confused and perhaps even a little baffled.

I checked out their page and there isn't a lot of detail, just a single review, and a mention that despite having 3 laser drilled holes, it will NOT handle pure VG.

So, I am curious and eager to learn more.

I confess, I'm a little confused as to how it works as well, but....it works! I'm sure there is some sort of wicking mechanism down at the bottom, but I can't really see it. It LOOKS like a plain atomizer, but you are correct, it is exactly like a cartomizer in every way, except that there is no polyfill in it.
I thought for sure with three holes punched in it, that liquid would just flood like crazy, but it doesn't at all!
That's why I posted this, because I had never heard of it before, and was wanting to know if anyone else has. I don't represent hoosier ecig in any way at all, but they are the only vendor I know who sells it. What I do know, is that they work, and work REALLY well. I'm surprised there aren't more of these out there.
By the way, I run 70/30 pg/vg. The atty is 2.0 ohms and I run it at about 4.4 volts.

I am intrigued. Keeping an eye on this thread.
All I know, is that I ordered more last night, because I can't find them anywhere else, and I HOPE they don't go away anytime soon. I'm vaping on it right now at work, and by far, it produces the most flavor and vapor out of anything I own.
I have the pro-tank, various vivi novas (STV and regular), a couple c2's and c3's, drip atty's, pyrex dct's, etc. and it is outperforming ALL of them.

Sitting down, facing forward.
It sounds the same as the Raven from GotVapes. A fillerless XL carto with great flavor, once broken in, and tremendous vapor output. They seem to last for a while as well, I'm on about the twentieth tank full, ~2.5ml tank, and it's still going strong! I bought five spares when I bought the tank and wonder if I'll ever need them at this rate.

That looks like the 'nickel fill' atty/carto.

I tried 'em and ran into da dreaded dry burn taste. Enlarged da three small holes and got leaking. I need to try enlarging just one hole...
That looks to be what they are! Thank you!! I haven't had any dry burn issues with mine, and I'm thinking MAYBE I just got really lucky with mine, but that's why I ordered more to see how consistent they are. But thanks again, because I typed in the nickel fill atty in the search engine and found plenty of other stores out there who sell them.

I'm wondering the same thing! I'm loving mine!

OK, there on the list, so when the check comes in next week I'll order some. I've seen them, but just couldn't wrap my head around an atty not flooding in a tank, so guess I'll find out now.

Let me know how they work for you, if you don't mind. For $1.59 (or something like that), I thought I would give it a shot. Right now, I'm so glad I did. Still don't get how it doesn't flood like a beast....but it doesn't!

There does appear to be some sort of wick material all the way at the bottom and against the holes that can be seen. Once one wears out, if that ever happens, I'll take it apart to see how it's being done. I'm too cheap to risk an unused one by destroying it, LOL.
I'm right there with you on that!

I'm trying to find the cartomizers that I saw recently. I thought it was on surevapes, but I can't find them. They didn't have polyfill, but if you take the tube off you'll see a standard silica wick. It may just be that or an adaptation of such. They were smoktek as well.

Hmmm...now I'm interested in that too! Let me know if you find them again!

ive seen those too and i think its the same thing as the one from the original post in this thread. but maybe not. OP, your second picture looks like there might be mesh surrounding the ceramic coil cup like a traditional atty. btw OP, did you get the dual coil atty? looks like it from your photo but i cant quite make it out.

Yes, this one is a dual coil. They offer single coil at a lower resistance, and I ordered a few of those, but this one is dual coil.
