I have been wanting to try it but I thought I would ask before I do. I want to add a drop or two of Vanilla extract to my tobacco flavour. has anyone ever done that? there are concentrated fruit flavors, such as banana, strawberry ect. that I have in the house. The only thing that has prevented me from trying it is the oils in them. They are potato oil, alcohol, fusel oil. can you vape those?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strawberry

Personally, I'd look more into using your particular vanilla extract.... here's a link I picked up on a simple google search: Vanilla Extract Ingredients

Don't unconsciously start "guessing" what would be ok without research. At the least, you may just lose an atty.... where at the most, thought should be given where knowledge is key to prevent possibly injuring yourself in some way unnecessarily. We've already done THAT long enough with cigarettes.

ITs been tried and discussed before.

Vanilla extract (the type from the grocery store) is not concentrated enough in flavor to work. You will see it also contains water and alcohol. Basically you have to add so much of it to get the flavor you water down your e-juice. Water cools the atomizer and basically puts out the vapor.

Check out the DIY section in the main forums. There are many good suggestions there, and it’s a great place to start. I believe they have solved the vanilla problem, there is a suitable extract.

An easier method might be to check out a DIY place like one of the Canadian vendors here who offers many flavor concentrates (not me, and it’s against the rules for a vendor to specifically recommend product). You'll notice the selection of DIY flavors offered there are not your off the shelf at the grocery store variety. There is a reason for that, it takes a certain specialized and very concentrated flavor, most often used in candy production, to be suitable for vaping. You could always cut out the trial and error and use their stuff as its been tested to work.

Also remember when you are DIY experimenting, there will be substances that your atomizer doesn't like and you risk burning out a few trying untested things. Not saying don't do it, it can be fun, just be prepared to sacrifice some atomizers.

I would be cautious of extracts, not only for the water soluble issue, but also for any particulate that could very well make it's way through the extraction process and end up cooking onto your atomizer.

Ian, Bulk Barn sells the LorAnns flavouring's on the shelf. They are very concentrated, but don't turn a blind eye to the ingredients. Artificial flavour in a colloidal suspension of PG and Alcohol is the best ingredients list to use (commonly listed: Alcohol, PG, artificial flavour, then any colours). Avoid any with water, and stray from natural extracts as they commonly contain natural oil's, which could overheat a coil quick.

I'm not a pro when it comes to DIY, but in my experience, please make sure to read the labels. You will be surprised in some cases.
